| What are you favorite pick-up lines or icebreakers when you're 'playing the game' so to speak? I used one I came up with on the spot this past weekend.
The situation is it's me and two friends at a bar. I wouldn't have done this had I not had like 5 drinks but...I decided to go to the table with the highest number of beautiful ladies hide behind it telling one of them that I am in a game of hide and seek begging her not to tell my friend (who would be over to look for me in a few seconds, I hope) where I was hiding. I never said it was a good idea but this is what happens to desparate men. A good one I actually tried once (probably never again) is claiming I am training for the World Series of Rock, Paper, Scissors and that I need practice. Hey, it's a conversation starter. So, pick-up lines; Have you used some bad ones that actually worked? |

| I don't think I've ever approached a woman in a bar setting or the like, let alone use a pickup line, but man, I'd like to see you use one.
Perhaps in Seattle we can take turns trying this sort of stuff... |

| I've never needed a pickup line. Though I do have a specific way I tend to do things. It's not intentional, but I've done it enough to know it like it was:
-Pick the cute quiet girl at the party -Wait for her to be looking in your general direction -Turn to face her -Make eye contact, wait half a second -Smile -Walk up and introduce yourself -Say she has a cute smile or pretty eyes* -Be charming, witty, and fun (IE - wing it) -Profit! Now... if I was using actual pickup lines. Well, these are my favorites: - Start at about twice normal talking distance. "Hey. Did you know that from now to" Step in so you're at normal talking distance "Now you've become four times more attracted to me? According to Newton, I mean." - "Hey. Heisenburg uncertainty principle. I'm observing you." Stop and check her out. Do it blatantly. Try to have a suggestive voice with the next line. "So why aren't you changing?" But yeah. Remember that pickup lines are meant to be silly and innefective. At absolute best, you'll make somebody laugh and flatter them slightly. Which is a good start, but nothing magic. * Say something else if she doesn't, of course, but stick with one of these if you can say it honestly. Cute smile is the best, because it makes her realize she's smiling because of you. But go for pretty eyes if she's obviously 'playing the game' too -- not just because the smile wasn't entirely your fault, but because most girls who're consciously playing the game are going to be suspicious, and telling someone they have pretty eyes has a good chance of throwing her off guard so you can actually talk and have a chance to charm her and all that. Those are all very nerdy pick-up lines, meaning they will only work with nerdy chicks. That guarantees an ugly lay. 
I don't use a pick-up line, I just talk to them, get to know them better. Not something like what Squash Monster said (about the Newton one), because saying something like that will only get you awkward looks and make you look like a dork. (unless she's kind a geeky too in wich case it'll be cute) (No offense SM)
But, if the chick you're trying to get is a nerd also, then use whatever nerdy stuff you have at your disposal. And you shouldn't just jump to "Woah ur teh hot <3" because most chicks don't like to be complemented all over by some nerdy guy. It's rather annoying. Overall, you just have to know how to talk to certain people. People look down on nerds and geeks, so if you try to get someone who's not as nerdy/geeky as you then you shouldn't act all that nerd. But really, my strength lies in making fun of other things / other people, so I will try to come up something relevant to talk about at first ("Look at that slob with those girls over there") and go from there. Generally it seems better to stay away from the overtly sexual stuff, or the stuff that everyone has heard before. ("...Add a bed, subtract our clothes, divide your legs...") Unless you want beer thrown at you, that is. (EDIT: NO, I did not learn this from experience. I am not THAT GUY at a party.) I turn 21 soon. You can bet your ass I am eager to go bar hopping and test myself. I'm sure I'll get shot down 99% of the time, but... I'll be drunk and it'll be fun. EDIT: A rough transcription of an away message someone I know had up: "A guy walked up to me today and asked me, 'Haven't I met you before?' I told him 'Oh, yeah, weren't you one of the last ten guys to use that line on me?'" That is just admirable.
