meh, on my new PC, I've got tons of space/music. Problem is I've also got a 430 watt power supply.
it's great to power my nVidia card/other peripherals, but I was wondering if there was any way I could JUST play music without the need for excessive power (dont want a high electric bill ![]() is there any way? some program available on the web or something? edit: The OS on this machine is XP Media center Edition (no support for away mode) (edited by spiroth10 on 08-16-06 09:19 AM) (edited by spiroth10 on 08-16-06 09:28 AM) |

430W doesn't mean it uses 430W. That is the rated maximum power that the power supply can supply. Comnputers still do use a good amount of power so your only other option would prbably be a separate, low-power computer just for music. (Sure there's those music server things but they're like, $1000+) | |||

Originally posted by Zer0wned well away mode itself is something Microsoft implemented in a select few manufacturers' mother boards. Its not so much my OS as my motherboard. Away mode doesnt save much power anyway, at least from what ive read. supposedly it just marks the user as away, and turns off screen output. I've got over $100 coming back from best buy rewards, so I can just get an MP3 player if I really want it. (though an extra gig of ram might be nicer...) |
