AGH! I went to a water park today since it was hot, expecting some fun. I had fun, but, now... ugh. My face is sunburned although i usually don't get burned, I can barely see due to chlorine-burn, my eyes burn horribly as well as having a 10-second moment occasionally where they both burn like hell And so i took a shower, and flushed my eyes with fresh water, but it didn't help. And now, I'm itching like crazy all over my body!
1. Anybody know a treatment for chlorine-burn for my eyes? 2. Anybody know if chlorine has to do with my itching in anyway? |

I know. It felt unusually warm That's why I tried to stay above the water, but my cousins kept splashing and dunking me. And I don't really care about the slides as much as wave pools and such.

Always take a shower after that sort of thing. Chlorine itches like mad. There's a reason it's used there; because it's poison. Also, outdoor water parks for the lose They've got one in Oregon, North Clackamas Aquatic Park, which is just the best one I've ever been to. It's indoors obviously. I'm sure there must be some which are much, much better in places which are less rural than Oregon... |

While likley that indoor waterparks are better (indoor pools are better after all). They're just as rare for the same reason. Indoor waterparks probably cost several times as much money to build.

There's a nice couple of waterparks in my area, one is a saltwater park (yay for beaches next to it), so the water's always fresh, and they don't use chlorine there, and the other is a large waterslide park. The waterslide park also has a small waterpark in it for young kids, and is seriously WIN.

Slatwater would probably burn my eyes too, they're sensitive With the other one though, I bet it's constantly crowded And with the little kids section, at least it drives some of them away, so the water is less yellow tinted It sounds pretty great there. And my eyes have stopped burning, my sight is a little better, but I just took another shower, and I'm still so itchy! I hate this feeling Plus, my sunburn doesn't help either.

I did. It didn't help my face at all, but it worked on the rest of my body. Heck, it's weird. My cousins usually get burned, but they didn't. And I did. We all used sunscreen. Plus, my head is sore from me hitting my head on my cousins in this one rough ride.

When did you use sunscreen? Hopefully you applied it a while before going in the water (ie on the way to the park). You also need to reapply it too, as it will wash off a bit with water / wear off over time.
It's probably worth you wearing a rash vest or something in the water too. Sure, you don't need it for the reason rash vests were invented (stop you getting a rash from your surfboard) but they're great for covering you up so you don't get burned anyway. With the chlorine, it's possible that both it and sun exposure have dried out your skin. Try a moisturiser. |

Oh, yeah. I forgot dry skin can make you itch. Plus the chlorine. Plus the grass I fell in I only put it on before I got in the water, so I guess I forgot about it while I was having fun. And thanks for the rash vest tip, I didn't know that. Now all that's left is to fix my eyes

Also. What kind of sunscreen?
SPF 15 sunblock isn't going to do shit if you're like Irish or something. |

Moisturizer would be good, as previously said.
As for the eyes, they should be fine in a couple of days, but that's all the real advice you could probably get, maybe eyedrops could help though... |

SPF 30. And I'm African American/ *Random name for white guy*. The thing is, I usually don't burn. This is about the second time in my life. The other one was hardly a burn and it was on my scalp.

Generally, if you are out in the sun for an extended period of time, you will come away with a tleast some minor ailment. You just seem to be on the sensitive side when it comes to certain conditions, but I would qualify in that category as well. |
