Think about it, the average computer has 3 ports for sound cards.
Line In, Mic, and Line Out.

Now think. If you were to put a headset into the headphone jack, would it record sound?

Let that sink in.

That's good enough. Incase you had trouble (Which I hope you didn't), it needs two ports. The headset SHOULD come with a mic plug and a headphone plug that split off at the end. If it doesn't, something is wrong.
So the answer? No. It doesn't just plug into the headphone jack, it plugs into that and the mic port.

Well, if you didn't know, I've never USED a microphone on my PC before. I know that there's a mic port in the back of my PC, but I didn't know if a headset required two lines or not. I figured that out by myself just fine when looking at headsets and microphones in the store today, so it wasn't like I was gonna buy one, plug it into my headphone jack on my speakers and then be puzzled. I don't need it explained to me like a frigging BABY, thank you very much.

And besides, the headsets were a little too expensive anyways.

It's more a case of "start the chats a little earlier so Colin won't be yawning the whole time through".

(And if I was on, I would have been yawning. Plus my mic wasn't that good at max volume so I turned on Microphone Boost and that helped a lot. So I'm good to go now.)
