Yet again, Thompson just spouts out shit and yells. My friend and I always think of him as some little kid trying to tell on you, for taking his candy. That's what he acts like.

I didn't think I'd see a day where Sessler actually, seriously looks mad and frustrated here (I don't blame him). To piss off Sessler, you've got to be one annoying jackass, and Thompson is surely that.

I'm sick of Jack Thompson. I remember when he attacked Maxis for putting the code in The Sims 2 to remove the censor and said you could see sim-genitals. Did anyone see that episode of the Daily Show where they made fun of all the commotion over violent games?

xpCynic, it was actually a third party that did The Sims 2 uncensoring thing. It had little bearing on Maxis's part. But at any rate, Wacko Jacko's arguments are crazy and irrational. He's the kind of person that would blame Pong for the accidental breaking a window during a tennis match (as unlikely as it is). Hell, in that debate, you can even hear him start to stutter when his points are being disproven (although to be fair: both sides are insane; Sessler came off as an angry nerd). It probably won't be long until the guy is driven completely insane, is ripped apart in a real debate, starts to be ignored, or all of the above.

Actually.. No. The censor could originally be removed in the stock version of the game with just a console command. This command was removed later via updates and expansions, and mods have been used since then. (They also were made prior to the discovery of the console command.)

Regardless, the sims had no detail to their textures below the censoring.. just a flat skin texture, nothing there beyond a vague shape of a bust on the female sims.. So yea, his claim was ridiculous even so.

Really? I see. However, if I remember correctly, he was complaining specifically about a mod, and apparantly knew nothing about the console uncensoring. I may be wrong though. It's been a long time.

Yeah, but he sure does make for entertaining TV and makes a fantastic salesman. I'm sure G4TV could not be happier with Thompson's behavior and the way he is. He creates turmoil and makes video games 'newsworthy.' And I'm sure Rockstar/Take 2 are absolutely loving this.

Kids hear, "Don't buy Bully, its too bloody, Don't buy Bully, it takes place in a school just like yours, Don't buy Bully, you may or may not be able to beat up your math teacher, Don't buy Bully, coming this October." Gee, I wonder if a kid could possibly be more excited about a video game.

The media(Thompson AND G4TV) keep talking about violent video games and their effects on children, what the hell did they think was gonna happen. News, Commercial..children don't know the difference. They see that commercial of a lady playing New Super Mario Bros on her DS in the park, so they want that. They see Jack Thompson debating with that funny guy from the video game show about some game called Bully, so they want that.

..but yeah..its up the parents and shit.

And Jack wouldn't be so bad if he had actual FACTS to backup his BS and could calmly explain his position. If that were the case, then we could just say he's a vocal opponent of violent games but concede that he's not without his points.

Not really. Jack Thompson is nothing compared to Tipper and the PMRC, which actually was pressing for criminal charges on musical artists. Also, Adam Sessler sucks. And G4 in general.

All i'm gonna say is i'd rather have my kids spending their free time gaining some hand eye coordination and reaction time shooting people in GTA then being brainwashed by MTV. Atleast it takes some brain activity.

Hell no. I thought TechTV for the most part, was interesting to watch. And even though old G4 repeated reruns over and over again, it was better than current G4.

The thing I hate about G4 now, is how 80% of it isn't even videogames anymore. What the hell is Star Trek on there? Yeah, I have no gripe with Star Trek, but that series has been on what, every single channel now? Then they've got some shows about cars ..., etc. And its funny to see that X-Play is now pretty much their main reviewing show, even though it wasn't their's in the first place (I've heard Adam and Morgan, and maybe one other person are the only people left from TechTV now).

Either way, I'm not trying to compare G4 to TechTV or anything, or even old G4, but I just really don't like what its become. It seems pretty much exactly like SpikeTV nowadays, and heck, SpikeTV even has their own videogame shows now.

I don't particularly care about G4 not much being about videogames anyway. Oh, no! It has more than one focus! That means it is awful oh no lost sight of original purpose... Eh, I don't care.

I used to like that Tech TV ( Mainly Screensavers) used to actually be a bit usefull and informing. Now it's obviously trying to cater to the younger viewers with lame attempts at comedy and constand video game news and reviews that are months old. (and very commercial)

Not so much the younger viewers... they just think that said type of programming appeals to the masses. Specialty networks will usually tweak their programming until they're happy with it.
