I'm just curious as to the top three that people are going to buy that are either out now or are coming out soon and your reasons why. Basically, I'm just comparing, although I might find that a lot of people are buying the same thing or a lot of people aren't buying a particular one.

Whatever.

Anyways, the top three for mine are as follows:

>>>

1. Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories (08-29-2006 US)

I don't think my title says enough about it, but this is probably the high one on my list. I don't think I've had a better time with any other RPG recently than the original Disgaea (maybe Makai Kingdom...but even then...). If the second one is as good as I think it'll be, I won't be around much, if at all. The original consumed 170 hours of my life and I could have gone even further with it. This will likely be the same.

2. Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria (09-26-2006 US)

You know, I never got to play the original to this? I've tried so many times to find the game and I never found it in a gaming store. Thankfully, this series seems to have been given new life several years later. I know how it looks, I know what to expect...and if it's anything like how Radiata Stories delivered, then I'm practically sold. I'll definitely be thinking about this one when it comes out.

3. Kingdom Hearts 2 (Out Now US)

I don't think I really need to explain why I'm getting this one, it's just I haven't yet. I would have put something than another RPG but really this deserves a spot on my top three.

>>>

So what are you guys saving for?

I donīt really need to save for games yet. Iīll get FFVI Advance, that I know for sure. ME and a friend beat it on Playstation but itīll still be fun to get it since thereīs added conect to it. And the music is great. I also think Kefkaīs one of the best villains. He couldīve had more HP, though. It was easy as pie to beat him. I hope theyīll add harder-than-last-boss bosses. Like Shinryuu in FFV.

Other than that, I donīt know.

Oof... I have absolutely no idea at the moment. :\ Obviously I'll get Football Manager 2007 when that comes out since it's one of the greatest time killers of them all, and Disgaea 2 is a probable as well, but most of the stuff I want right now is on the DS. I got a *taste* of New Super Mario Bros. on the weekend and I need my fix now I think. I can't resist platforming action.

RPG wise on the DS... ooh. Final Fantasy III is looking mighty tempting at the moment and as long as the gameplay holds up, it could very well be a must-have.

Three games for the PC that I am really excited about are Neverwinter Nights 2, Battlefield 2142, and Dark Messiah of Might and Magic. All of them should come out around October. And I feel like they are three of the most underhyped games right now.

Neverwinter Nights 2 I really wanna play mainly because of all the newly improved and created aspects of the game especially character customization among other things.

Battlefield 2142's atmosphere looks completely awesome. Titan Mode has me psyched. It looks like it takes a lot of skill as well planning to win a battle.

Dark Messiah of Might and Magic seems highly original in its system and I was just playing the demo and I have to say I am very much impressed.

Also, all three of these games will feature multiplayer modes which have me particularly excited.

Hrm, I want Disgaea 2 for about the same reason as Hiryuu does.

As soon as I can, I'll pick up Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, as well. I really want to give that stylus magic system a shot, and as an added bonus, it continues the story of Aria of Sorrow, which I was a big fan of in the first place.

I'm also trying to hunt down a copy of Grim Fandango. Why, you ask? Because it's old school, and it's awesome.

And if I could have a fourth, I'd like Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall, as well. Not even to play it, mind you: I just want to see if the estimated 750000 NPCs thing is actually true or not. I can only imagine there's got to be some kind of catch to the whole thing, like they're all the same or the game is lacking in detail entirely, a la Morrowind.

I like the fact that someone actually bothered to PLAY A DEMO before jumping into a potentially bad purchase. (Seriously... they're out there and some people don't bother. :\)

Hm... I'd like to get Dawn of Sorrow as well, but I'm low on cash right now. Aria of Sorrow was my favorite GBA Castlevania, and what I've read of DoS makes it seem like a worthy successor...

As for upcoming games, Portrait of Ruin is high on my list, as is Megaman ZX.

Let's see...

Well, I've never heard of Disgaea before, and after looking at a screenshot of the second, I'm wanting to give it a shot.

For other games I want, any (or all) the DDR games for the PS2 as I really don't like the song selection for the Ultramix series and Mario Mix is way too easy.

And for two other games I'm going to get, I'm considering New Super Mario Bros and if I could find it Graffiti Kingdom due to the old thread here a while ago.
I'm a sucker for in-depth customization.

From a fan of the game and series: Yes it's huge, and yes it's generic. The interaction screen with 99% of NPCs is just an interrogation screen. You ask them questions, and if they like you they spit up answers. It's only really good for finding out where people/places are around town. Any intersting events or dialogue takes place via pop-up text boxes, and not the actual conversation system.

They're great for killing sprees, though. 1 HP, all of them! Until the guards come, at least.

And the game is lacking in detail, but tries to make up for it by being HUGE. Still, this gives some weird feelings to the game. There's almost no point in wandering across the countryside. It's completely barren, you almost never find anything to fight, and the chances of you randomly stumbling across something interesting is almost nil because the map is so fucking huge...

It can be a fun game, but only if you like getting god-like equipment and powers and lording over a bunch of wimps who stand no chance against you.

The only thing is that I've been having performance issues with some games and hope I can get them cleared up before October. One can see it in my Dark Messiah benchmark.(Recorded Using Fraps)

And as a cleverly constructed graph!

1. Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria - I got the first when it first came out, which was hard enough since it was rare even then, and it's easily one of my favorite games ever. I'm like...frothing at the mouth. It comes out on my mom's birthday, haha. XD

2. Persona 3 - I don't think I really need to explain this. I'm such an Atlus fangirl and I LOVE the persona/shin megami tensei series. It looks SO GOOD.

3. Shin Megami Tensei - Devil Summoner - AGAIN, shin megami tensei series. KYAAAHHHH *_*

4. Harvest Moon DS - It's harvest moon. It's on the DS. This in itself is going to be amazing. I LOVE the harvest moon series, and I miss the old SNES incarnation, which the DS will probably remind me of. I have the newer ones for PS2 and gamecube, but I think the DS version'll blow all of them away. XD

Those're the top four I REALLY want. I'll probably get the next ones

5. DS - Children of Mana - RPG + DS = win. I'm an RPG collector, basically.

6. Xenosaga Episode 3 - PS2 - Eh..the xenosaga series is so so, but I already have the first two, and like I said above, I DO collect RPGs basically. XD

One game I won't be getting is the second Disgaea. I know YOU are looking forward to this, but man, I hate strat RPGs. XD I sold my copy of disgaea after much frustration a few months ago.

EDIT: SHIT, I forgot Final Fantasy 3 on the DS. that's definitely in my top list. XD I LOVE THE DS.

I..

Actually, I have no idea what I'll be getting. Every Extend Extra* (PSP) looks interesting (it's another Q? Entertainment game -- also known as "hey, those guys made Meteos and Lumines!"), but it'll undoubtably force-upgrade your PSP, which am not going to do. Pity.

Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (DS) is another Zelda, but I think the "touch-controlled entirely" will put me away from it. I long for another GB Zelda-style game, Minish Cap was an absoulte disaster in my eyes and I have a sneaking suspicion PH is just going to overuse/abuse the damn cell-shading and voices (HYAAHYAAHYAAHYAAHAA ARRRGHGHH) all over again, probably with a small number of dungeons or it'll just be gimmicky. I'm getting ahead of it here, but... forcast is grim.

Other than that, lately I have been motivated to get (or play) no games at all, other than maybe a few NES classics. There's just been a real lack of quality games for systems I own (DS/PSP) that I want to play.

(NSMB was too damn easy (LOL 99 LIVES), Tetris DS got old after cheaters got it, MKDS SNAAAAAKE, and Nintendogs requires voice which I am not doing thanks)

I do think one game I'll be getting again is Golden Sun 2. I hate almost all RPGs, but for some reason I really like that series. Mabye because there's an unbelievable amount of dialogue in it, and I like reading That and I don't have to constantly level up, just beating random battles when they come works fine.

The only game I want to buy for now is Twilight princess.I havent had the chance to play the demo, only view trailers, and the delays are killing me. But after so many delays I learned to wait and now I have enough patience like to wait another year or maybe not but im working in a game and that keeps my mind out of the waiting.WHY NINTENDO,WHY YOU DELAYED THE GAME ! I remember when they say that the official release date was november 2005! Now almost a year has passed and the game is still not released.WHY NINTENDO!!!

As I said I learned to wait, something I couldnt do a year ago.

Well, time to make my quarterly post, lol. Anyway, here are the games that I'm going to get in the near future:

1. Valkyrie Profile 2
Tri-Ace and Square-Enix get better all the time and this game more than proves it. The screenshots and sample movies I have seen of this game are absolutely extraordinary. I like the idea that Tri-Ace wanted to go back before the first storyline. And as always, Motoi Sakuraba is having a hand in the soundtrack -- the first game I remember him composing music for was for Tales of Destiny. (Yeah, I know he's done more before that, but I haven't played those games.)

2. Radiata Stories
I heard this game wasn't all that great, but then I haven't played it yet. I might just go ahead and buy it just for the heck of it (it's only about $20 now anyway).

3. Tales of the Abyss
Supposedly, this game has battle system similar to Star Ocean. I also collect RPGs, and this game will no doubt be picked up by me. Again, Motoi Sakuraba has a hand in the soundtrack for this game. Man, this guy is everywhere. But hey, I'm not complaining.

4. Square-Enix's Massive Re-Releases
There are a number of games that Square-Enix is re-releasing. So far, I have only seen this in Japan though. A bunch of the Dragon Warrior games -- 4, 5, 7 and even 8 are marked down to about $23. I will be getting all four of those eventually. Also Legend of Mana is reduced to $15 and all the Final Fantasies for the PS1 have been reduced as well. I always wanted to play FF9 in Japanese, lol.

Well, there you go. Of course, I'm getting the Japanese versions of these games.

Probably because they're making sure the game is 110% absoloute perfection in whatever media format they're releasing it in.

Delays have a reason. Get used to them

Tell that to the Duke Nukem Forever squad _Ž

Seriously, I wonder where all that money has gone. They don't even have screenshots of the game in the new engine. How do you spend 6 years with funding by a major game development house and not have a screenshot of an engine to show for it?

Honestly, I think Brossaurd might be eating the money. Not buying food with the money and eating that; eating the money ITSELF.

I think that DNF will be released one day and nobody's going to realize it's out. Or care.

If it's ever released, we're at the point delay-wise where it has to be one of the greatest games of all-time or else it's a failure.
