I just finished this, it's the first map I'll ever release, in fact it's the second map I've ever finished at all for any game. It was made on an iMac G4 using MacRadiant 1.4.
The map consists of four islands rising from an endless sea of black fog, screenshots below: I managed to get a nice horizon effect by combining black fog with a custom made sky shader. Here's an overview of the map, notice how there's only one launchpad on each island, you can only go between the islands clockwise. This is meant to keep players visiting all of the islands and to get a chase-like gameplay. This island was designed for combat, it's a large open area with a statue in the middle to fight around. This island is kind of an obstacle course, you could just rush through it, but if you want collect all the goodies lying around, you'll need to do some jumping. This island with a ruin theme is perfect for rocket fights. It also has a small shaft leading down to a special area. This is the smallest island, it's mostly there to tie things together, but if you picked up the railgun earlier, there are some slugs here for you. This is where the shaft mentioned above will take you, I call it the Telefrag station. There are three teleporters, each showing an item, if you walk through a teleporter you'll end up exactly where that teleporters item was. So if you wait for someone to come along to claim the item, just step into the teleporter and... *splat*. You can download the map here. |

It's pretty cool. I love the way the way the map looks, but it's not too practical for match purposes. |
