Just curious about how varied everyone's musical tastes are, so it's that time again. Get a HTML dump of it and paste it for us to see. =p

Loads of awesome.

The playlist disections should be obvious for people who're familiar with the artists.

It goes indie, hip hop, core/punk, rock, and jazz/blues. I mostly listen to Indie in the afternoon and evening, and jazz/blues in the mornings and late evenings. I need more hip hop and rock though. Currently I'm torrenting Huey Lewis and the News.

Ogre: Do you listen to all the video game soundtrack on a regular basis?

Most of it is mine, I have a mixed taste. All of the rock and metal is mine, though, thats my favourite stuff.

Typically I'll toss my starting point in a section and hit start with single order on. It's kinda rare that I leave it on random, since going from Fort Minor to Xenogears to Eurythmics can make you crazy.

And didn't specify with the list, I favor good ole fashion rock, most things with a hip-hop flare. Nnot rap per say. Only 'rap' I have is Eminem, and it's not very rap if you think about it. And a few country songs I dig like Garth Brooks, well, excusively Garth, dislike other country.

Well, I don't have a playlist but here's a link to a list of albums I own.

Basically I like fast metal. Besides that I spend a lot of time listening to videogame music myself, even NES and SNES tunes still to this day.

Which I'd have to say, nice seeing Seiken Densetsu 3 on your list Ogre.

Not to be a prick, and not to support a rapper who has been hacking off of his old self for years now, supporting himself with fans that have no better resource, but Eminem raps. It is rap, very rap. As rap as you get.

I used to listen to rapcore like hed p.e., and Mindless Self Indulgence, and I still really like Kid Rock's Devil Without a Cause, in just the same way I like old Green Day songs.

Here I go!

Most of it is already on CDs though. Many others are full albums I got (thank you bit torrent).

I'm not including anything else than MP3 (with the execption for those midi I have forgotten to get rid of). If I add all my spc, usf, gsf, psf, gbs, nsf and neogeo music collection, it would become disgustingly huge and cluttered.

No it's not. Rap in it's current form is more "gangster rap" than anything, like the crap by 50-cent and such. Ryhming to words a rap song does not make. Eminem is more like old school hip-hop, but not to say it all is. Sing With Me is in no way rap.

Mind if I ask how you make one of those html list things ;P? Summing it up though, there's Japanese stuff (it has the same genres as eu/us stuff, but it is so different in some cases), Trance (and similar things), Goa (and things along those lines), Metal, whatever goes into games/anime I like. It's uh.. rather mixed.

If you are using winamp:

Misc->Misc Options->Generate HMTL Playlist

Or Ctrl+Alt+G

MisterJones - Are you talking about the XOC SMW remix? The concept album one?

If so, yes, he did the whole album by himself with real instruments. And it is fucking brilliant.

Here's mine. It's still a mess, because I had to reformat a few months back and ended up just re-uploading everything from my mp3 player. There's a lot of songs on there I don't really know/like that well that I've yet to edit out... Particularly by Deftones, Slipknot, and Iced Earth. Still, if it's on the playlist, I at least listen to it every now and then.

My old playlist was 3000 black metal songs and about 2000 others. It was pretty fucking awesome.

My current one is mostly hip-hop and post-rock.

Rap is two parts of hip-hop: beat making and MCing. The term rap refers to this coupling. It's evolved a lot since the 70's, but the main idea, and all who fall under it, has not. Gangster rap isn't its "current form," it's a type of rap, a very popular type, but I think we might see it die down as some of the more intellectual underground rap starts to rise (So long as Jay-z keeps producing them, and Kanye West and all keep inviting them on big records). If Eminem wants to go in a different direction with his music, he can welcome himself to the club, but he's not leaving rap. He's just leaving what he's been doing with it.

WUT? MSI isn't fucking rapcore. It's a bit Acid, a bit Industrial, but rap? LAWL.

Upon looking at wikipedia, it seems you're right. I guess I don't know enough about rapcore to diagnose it. That's ok with me.

Eminem isn't anything like old school hip hop.

I listen to hip hop, mostly old school up to mid 90s stuff.

Ice Cube (NWA -> Predator), Nas, Wu Tang, 'Pac, Biggie(Ready to die, forget Life after death), Pun, KRS-One, Rakim, NWA, Public Enemy, and so on.

Don't like 50, Game, Dips(hi)et, Jay Z, and over 95% of southern (c)rap
