You guys know that group hack called Mario and Luigi: The Great Exodus that I organized half a year ago that kinda fell apart? Well, believe it or not, I'm still working on it... well, on and off anyway. (I have no progress worth showing, nor do I know if anyone else is still working on it, but I'm doing so to at least get a single demo out.) So, I was wondering to myself: "You know... I probably should have used the SMB3 music patch when I started my hack. It has a better variety of music than SMW, so it'd probably help spruce up the hack." So, I tried implementing both ips's of my hack and the SMB3 music hack. Anyone who's ever tried doing something like that would probably be able to guess the outcome of that.

So, plan B was to simply export all of M&L's contents and shove it into the music hack - whatever I couldn't export I could just make again. But there was the problem. I looked at the overworld and thought to myself, "Hey, where's the export button?" After some looking around, it was pretty apparent Lunar Magic doesn't export the overworld.

So, to the point, what I'm wondering is if there is any way to import and export the overworld: its events, its paths, the tiles set, all that stuff. If there isn't, or it's a complex way of doing it, it isn't a big deal; the music would just be a nice feature, which is why I wanted to do this in the first place, but I otherwise don't need it.

So, let the discussion commence.

Personally, I don't like SMB3 music in SMW, but here's how to transfer the overworld:

1. open rom with overworld you want to transfer (in LM)
2. open overworld editor and keep open
3. go back to the level editor window
4. open rom you want to transfer overworld to (in same LM window)
5. go back to overworld editor window
6. you will notice it is the same from the other rom
7. click the save button
8. if not already done, transfer shared palettes
9. if not already done. transfer GFX and ExGFX

that's a cool trick. you should write/post a tutorial on smwcentral about how to move EVERYTHING from one smw rom to another (levels, overworld, palettes, etc) the most efficient way possible. because if i ever add hdma or something to my hack i'm going to need something like that

Thanks for that, smwedit. I had no idea you could do that; I would've just supposed it saved to the previous rom. Either way, yay, Lunar glitches!

Using the "export multiple levels", "export pallettes", and "export gfx/exgfx" seemed like an easy enough task to me, so those are covered. On the other hand, there is the exception of Map16 blocks....

You can use F5 ad F7 to export Map16 pages, and F6 and F8 to import them.

Oh, yeah.... somehow, I must have missed that in the help file. *crosses out "map16 data" on list of things to export*
