....I HAD A BABY.

Okay, gross, no, I didn't. XD

But, close enough!

My boyfriend and I have recently moved out on our own, and for the longest time, I have wanted a 2nd cat in the family, because my first cat (Tragic, five years old) is VERY needy and dependent and gets very depressed when I'm not home (which will be increasingly more so when school starts back). I had been rather hesitant about it since his previous companion, a cat of mine named Celes, had died a couple of years ago due to a variety of things (poisoning got her in the end) and I was still hurting/feeling guilty over that, because I had to leave her with some people b/c of my bitchy family.

So! We checked out a shelter a month before we moved, and didn't find anything we liked, because we needed a female kitten, because my desperately needy Tragic is also much like myself, VERY jealous and overprotective. Bringing another male cat in here would be like my boyfriend catching me with another dude, it'd be bad news and fights. XD

So, we went to a shelter a couple of days ago b/c we saw on the net that they had some kittens. I was looking for either a calico or a black kitten, b/c I'm sick of having gray cats, as every cat I've had for the past six or seven years or so has been gray, plus, a lot of people don't adopt black cats/kittens b/c they think they're bad luck or associated with witchcraft (which I think is complete and utter bullshit).

So, we went and found a kitten we really liked, a calico. She had been there for two months (only 3 months old) and we went into a visiting area with her and it was just an instant connection. She rubbed all over my lap and my boyfriend and even slobbered when she purred too (which is what Tragic does), so we filled out all the necessary paperwork, yadda yadda, and we adopted her, but couldn't pick her up until today, because she had to have a bunch of physical exams with a vet and spaying.

So we brought her home! She was lovely on the car ride back, and even rode around in the buggy at Petsmart...but then we get her home and she's as shy as can be. Tragic never hissed at her or anything, but she's all fussy about him. She also, unfortunately, has coccidia (an intestinal parasite) so she and tragic can't use the same litter box, and he can't be in her room.

ANYWAYS, here are some pictures of her. Her name is Odessa, and she is 3 months old, and weighs 3 pounds...so tiny!

I got a 403 forbidden error when I tried to look at those pictures. Shame, she sounded adorable

I hope that Odessa can recover from Coccidia. It's a deadly infection most of the time without treatment, and there's no direct cure. You're probably already aware of that, so I won't say anything else about that.

Cute little kitten! A-door-a-bowl.

I've got myself a cute little puppy dog, but cats make me sneeze so they're out of the question.

Amanda told me that they gave her medication as well to take for a couple of weeks so I'm sure it's somewhat under control.

AWWWWWWWW

Congrats on the new kitty! We won't be adding any more animals to our household for quite a while. Chester and Cookie give us all the feline attention, cuddles, and assorted pathetic vocalizations that we can handle. They're four years old, and they still think they're kittens.

Yeah, but I don't think it's one of the more serious strains of coccidia. A lot of shelter kittens get it b/c of their weakened immune system, so she's on medicine for the next two weeks.

She's eating fine, no diarrhea, and VERY active, so I think she'll be okay.
