I just found a copy of Gunstar Heroes in my friends basement and he said I could have it!

What joy! I LOVE this game! I have wanted to find a copy for almost a year now!

He says he used to play it all the time and it was a great game and it has always worked.

It looked great until I brought it home and tried it out.

Won't turn on??? Time to clean!
Still no dice?
Damnit!!

Let me look at thi- OH MY GOD!

The board is clean snapped in half! Im literally pulling half of the board partially in and out!

Is it totally destroyed, or is there something I can do to save it??
The crack goes at an angle and goes through two of the metal connectors on the board.
I can't get it open without a gamebit, and I just want to play it

Anything I can do???

I'm fairly certain that without extensive knowledge of sega games, soldering, etc. that you can do nothing other than playing it on an emulator.

You could try to make it look like it is fixed and trade it in at a used shop for a game. Then go to another used shop and trade that game for a copy of that game.

It depends on your morals

There were cartridge games for Saturn? I've only heard of accesories, I want a RAM cart! My saved data used to always vanish. The console works, but it's not setup anymore.

If the crack doesn't hit too many leads, and no chips, then you might be able to fix it.

Open up the cart (somehow), and pull the cracked PCB out. (If the pieces are large, and not one small bit and one large bit, you are most likely f*cked.

takign a snrwedriver/knife/anythign, carefully scrape off hte greenish covering that's ove rhte copper leads underneath.

taking a sodlering gun, melt solder across those leads to reconenct them, and careful not to make any short-circuits.

take tape/glue/whatever, and keep the pieces of the PCB together so they don't break apart at the sodler joint, then place the assembly back into your cart, put it all back together, plug it into your Genesis or what-have-you, and hope it works.

If it doesn't, keep the cart and D/L a ROM.

On another note, Gunstar Heroes is not a saturn game. Guardian Heroes is, though. Made by the same company. Incredibly awesome. My roommate has a Saturn. We play it. It is sweet, even if it has data values leaking out of its menus.

Gunstar and Guardian Heroes are the epitome of fast-paced, you-against-a-million-foes-in-a-colorful-and-hardware-intensive-environment asskicking action games.

I'll try to get some shots off the chip. I got the chip out with a small pair of pliers (Unscrewed the gamebits in the back with em ). Its cracked through one of the golden plate thingys at the bottom, 10th from the left, goes up-left between the last two connectors on the left of the black eeprom or whatever it is. Then the crack goes out the left side.

if only the two connector leads at the bottom are broken, then try just dabbing a bit of selder over the crask there, and hope it works.

if not, you'll have to find where the PCB leads are broekn and fix them like I said.

Basically what Sukasa said, only I might recomend using caulk to reattach the board itself back together. I used to use it alot as an electronic adhesive
