It's okay if you don't remember, I remember your commenting that you could use that idea in your hacks sometime. =P

Congrats on finally releasing it. You've been making this hack for over a year now, and it looks really good. I will play it tomorrow and write a more detailed review...the reason I'm posting now though, is because I wanted to comment on the screenies (not like it matters anymore, but I at least want to put something here )

I really like the new title screen. The curtain looks much more professional-like then your old one, so that's a plus. I assume you drew it yourself?

I like the first OW, showing Mysterious Castle too. The ghost house, as I said before, looks pretty cool, as do the gravestones. However, if I had to complain about something on this screen, it would be the cliff lines around the latter on the left hand side. They just look...odd.

Star World looks good. Do you have to clear the 4 level's to destroy the rocks to get into the castle? Just a guess.

Dark Cemetary looks cool also. However, you probably noticed this, but look at the hills in the top right corner. The dark grey "shadow" on the right side of them looks ugly. It obviously shares the same palettes as the unrevealed paths.

Blaze Caverns....no complaints, it looks great. Do the lava bubbles animate?

As for the level screens, I won't address them individually. Instead, I'll just say they all look really great, and I didn't find any glitches or bugs in any of them. In the fourth one, the eye monster looks really cool. What game is that from, or did you draw it by hand? In the sixth one, the ravens are great. Hell, any sprites from YI are great. In the seventh one, I still think the YI BG turning into a FG looks a tiny bit odd, but since other people like it, thats good. Might be cool if you added a window or something to give it a bit more detail

Again, this is just a small (irrelevant now, because you're done) review by me about what I have seen show far. You have done a really good job with this hack, and it shows great us of originality, custom GFX, etc. I'll be sure to play this, and write and even bigger review ASAP.

Its finally released.

Now to spend hours playing it.

After all your first demos and screenshots, I have been interested in this for a while now. So I now want to play it to see how it ends.

Will report tomorrow.

The glitches you keep mentioning don't exist in my copy of the game, though, and no one else is reporting them either. Either that or the first one doesn't exist and I have no idea where the second one is to check about it. I think the palette there is of Blaze Caverns, but that can't be right since there's nowhere with a pipe like that there

EDIT: Alright, guys. I've had boom.dk upload a version of my hack with one glitch no one mentioned (probably because no one encountered it) fixed, and also with those... GLARING typographical errors gone.

That glitch wouldn't be the background garbage when you exit Dark Cemetary 3's bonus level in the sky, would it?

No, I accidentally caused that trying to fix something else. Ha ha. When boom.dk gets back on, I'll give him a patch that fixes it.

Edit: He's uploaded it.

Oh! Just remembered blaze caverns castle doesn't block out yoshi. And with all the pedobo's in the level, thats a bad thing.

But there's this one part where the pipe is just too small for Yoshi to fit through. I had to give him up to go on.

Finished the game today. ... And having just about 60 exits. Only about 30 short.

Wow, fantastic hack. I love the semi-goth King Boo and the fight against him.

Another flaw (at least, I highly doubt it's on purpose) is that when you're standing on the Star World Castle and you move to the right, you go to an inexistent level with the bonus level set, right between the third level and its star.

oh look! Another something I found.

The starworld castle message box says you need all the switches. HAH I say! With the uber gap walker trick, you can make it up the yoshi coin shaft at the begining by flying, and you only need the green switch pressed.

Whats the gap walker trick? Hold down your run button (y) and your jump button (b) and go over any 1 space gap and you should make it no matter what.

Sooo... space the green switch blocks differently.

Hah, haven't got a clue why that happens. Really, it shouldn't, since... I mean... It's a feature!

Done. The fact that you're being legitimately helpful here makes me wonder how you managed to misspell Tiamat.

Just finished the game (all exits) and loved it. Kinda wish you got more for completing the last level though.

I really did love that "secret 8 - mirror" bonus level, I was planning something in that vein for a hack that I'm working on, now I might consider devoting an entire world to that sort of level.

Also, that fishin' boo sprite flat out wins.

I wasn't able to notice any problems that weren't already pointed out (namely, yoshi in castle 7 and the wrong lava marked as safe with a star).

One other question - is there actually a blue pow in star world 4? I'm not sure whether or not the route I took to finish the level is the way you're SUPPOSED to do it or not.

Well what else would I give? Another level? That wouldn't make sense what with I just gave an entire secret world.

If you wish, you can download the patch again. I've fixed every error mentioned in this thread that doesn't involve the overworld.

I'm absolutely stuck here:

I've gotten the POW into this room, now what? (I've gotten the secret exit; the key's useless, right?)

...

XD

You got the secret exit, now you're working on said secret exit's red herring. You could use the movement coins to force a way to the pipe and pow them for access, but that area doesn't actually lead anywhere you want to be. The real exit has nothing to do with that. At all.

Is that really fair? I mean, the spike has gone down, so it shouldn't really hurt Mario...

How is the player supposed to know that there's a ledge below?

I drop into the cave, hit the multiple coin block from the lower right-hand corner, and Mario dispappears and dies.

And then of course, there's the overworld path glicthing... =/

But apart from all I've mentioned, it's a really great hack; one of the only hacks I've ever played that I've actually enjoyed. Not too easy, not too hard, and fantastic level design.
