to make a short story, I've recently started to mess with the C4 chip(used in SNES game such as MMX2 and 3) and, in the documentation I've found about it, it say the image I will import have to be a 4-bit packed-pixel image. my question is what exactly a 4-bit packed image is and do a program to make/edit them exist? thank in advance![]() |

I believe that basically a standar 16-colour .bmp picture... although whether it has the .bmp file header I don't know. MSPaint is supposed to be pretty good for those kinds of files. ![]() |

...I yet have to hear about a game using the bitmap format. Really, do you really know the spefications for bitmap? Such as the fact that images are stored backwards for some reason. ![]() I guess it means that it's compressed with it being "packed". Other than that, I can't help much. |

From Wikipedia:
In chunky or packed pixel frame buffer organization, the bits defining each pixel are grouped together. For example, if there are 4-bits per pixel (16 colors), each frame buffer byte defines two pixels. (edited by Zidane on 07-23-06 10:23 AM) |

I thought the C4 was mainly used for drawing vectors / line graphics. How does that fit in with this? | |||

Originally posted by MathOnNapkins link according to this, it can be used to scale/rotate graphic, but it the graphic to input must be a 4-bit packed-pixel image wich is what's currently stopping me from using it ![]() |
