New Gameplay.

Words cannot express how excited I am about this. What impressed me the most here, was how fluid the game looks, and how stunning the music is.

Wow. It's going to be Castlevania 3 meets Super Mario 64!

But where does the second screen's role in this?

I was very excited about this till i saw the gameplay vids... It just looks so damn simple. It's not as if SoTN or AoS where hard, (I've yet to play DoS but i know i'll end up getting it with my DS) but with such minimal gameplay features they could atleast increase the difficulty. I'm sure i'll give it a try anyway.

Atleast it'll surely be a fuck load better then another 3D castlevania game.

I'll guess that it'll be used for menu's, the map, and whatnot just like Dawn of Sorrow. If the game itself took place on both screens ... like Sonic Rush, that would just annoy the heck out of me.

This is probably going to be a buy for me. This is the first Castlevania game that I've really wanted. It looks so good. I've briefly played other Castlevania games. I just never got into them. This, however, will be different. I would say I can't wait for the release, but I can. I'll be picking this up someday or I'll ask for it for Christmas. Yay for late release dates.

Looks a lot like DoS. I might buy it.... I wonder if they'll continue the Soma storyline any time soon. What did they do in the middle of the video? A time warp to the past?

That game should've had the second screen show what's further to the right of the main screen. That would've actually been useful =/

Well, they're definitely not continueing the storyline with this game. I don't know specific details, but this game takes place farther into the past unlike the last few Castlevania games (Aria, and Dawn of Sorrow especially). I think it goes as far back into the original Belmont times, but I'm not sure (like the NES CV games).

Alastor: Haha, yeah that actually sounds a lot better than what they did. Either way, I did not think that was a good Sonic game at all despite all the good reviews it got. One thing I really hated was the music, it was just ... terrible beyond words.

PoR is a sequel to Castlevania Bloodlines, which I guess is canon now. Bloodlines was more based on the original Dracula plot.

First of all, don't take the demo level as a great example, all the items are high drop rate and in set places to show off a lot of the moves. Secondly, DoS was more complicated than SoTN in a lot of ways, and the bosses were actually half a challenge unlike SoTN. Only one boss in that game could pose a threat, and only if you didn't have a Lightning draining item. (Though, many bosses were a bit harder, or downright hard as Richter.)

*omega bump*

So, this game is out and it totally rocks. I've gotten past the first bad ending (once you do its great to see you still have a large chunk of the game left). Its definitely bigger and longer than DoS, and I'd say the plot is a lot better too.

My only gripe with this one so far is that the music doesn't seem as good as previous Castlevania's. I mean its not bad at all, it just doesn't come off as melodic as other CV games were.

Gameplay is a lot more complex in this one, mainly due to being able to control two characters. You can have your partner fight along side of you, or switch between them on the fly. If your partner gets hit, your MP goes down. If it hits zero your partner won't be useable until your MP goes back up. Jonathon has your typical Up + Attack attacks, like Knives, bombs, and stuff like that. While Charlotte has powerful Magic attacks, but they sometimes take a few seconds to charge up. Then there's combo attacks like 1,000 Knives, Volcanoe, and a few other things that do a ton of damage.

Also to clerify my above mistake about when this game takes place, its the year 1944. It takes place during World War II. Already I've seen some direct references to the Sorrow games and some past games too.

Definitely a must own for those with a DS.

Have it, beat it with the best ending. Working on the Sisters' game now. Their mode you get the most use out of the touch screen, as it is used to attack.

Considering that I designed it pixel by pixel (okay, more like part by part: 00 01 02 03) and even re-did it since the original one was, uh, backwards, yes.

Whats with the 449.9%. Is that the game completion percentage? Why is it more than 100? Did y'all already start hacking the shit outta this game?

It's the map uncover rate (i.e., uncovering an entire map = 100%), and since there's multiple maps...

100% for every map leads to a very easy-to-get >=100% total.

I'm currently on the 5th map right now, so yeah.
