I've been playing piano for several years, and since I've always liked video game music, I've decided to try and learn how to play it on the piano.

Just click the "Play" button there, and it should work. There will be no visuals (camera is busted) but you should hear audio. I was upset that I messed up badly in the beginning of Bob-Omb Battlefield, but overall I thought I did alright.

This one contains:

New Super Mario Bros. - Grassy Overworld
Super Mario 64 - Bob-Omb Battlefield, Haunted Merry-Go-Round, and much more...
Legend of Zelda - Saria's Song

This next one is very old. ^ It was recorded about 5 months ago. It was the third or fourth time of me playing these songs, so I wasn't that great yet.

Included are a ton of Super Mario World 2 songs. Touch Fuzzy, Get Dizzy, Make Eggs, Throw Eggs, Castle, etc etc...

I'm going to attempt to make an update to these two videos this week. In the meantime, please let me know what you think of these. I can play some Zelda and Chrono Trigger songs, too, among many other Mario songs. So if you like these don't hesitate to ask me to upload more vids.

Not bad at all. I used to play the piano a very long time ago, but I was always the guy who would play it with one finger ... I would never use all of them

Pretty nice though, just tune up a few parts and it will be good

That was great songs anyway. Instead, you should use a microphone.
Funny, actually. Especially the page turns.

hmm... not bad, though your high notes seemed very quiet, and DIre Dire Docks seemed rather muffled (though mostly accurate until a few... oddities at the end).

There were a few problems, some notes sounding off (a few specifically in Bob-omb Battlefield, not just the beginning, and in Boo's Scary-Go-Round (well, that's what I call it)), and a few seeming completely wrong (but maybe I listen to the Dire Dire Docks music a little too much), but overall a decent presentation.

Also, it might help if you post them as seperate files, for those of us that only have an interest in a few songs.

And on a less related subject...

I've been playing for a while too, though it's been a good two or three years since I played often (keyboard was in storage, I'm amazed the damn thing still works), and I kept trying to piece together video game music. Never had any sheet music for it, though I learned some purely by ear - Banjo-Kazooie's Mad Monster Mansion, for example, though it had been so long since I played (the game or the music) that I'd never be able to do it now.

I've been wanting to learn Dire Dire Docks for a while, but... that one doesn't seem to lend itself well to learning by ear, and I can never find the sheet music (nor can I even read it anymore )

It's a hell of a lot less unprofessional when you write sheet music and use it, then when you struggle with every other note. You're not horrible, sure, but you're definitely not that great... You would definitely be better if you didn't try to do everything from memory...

I was directed to this guy when searching for your video, though. Now he's pretty good.

It... yeah. Kind of what Kyouji said. You sound like you have to sound out every note in your head before you can hit the key, it doesn't flow. And I hear a lot of random sharps and flats thrown in that don't sound right. You've got the general idea, but you've got a bit of practicing to do before it sounds good rhythmically.

That link Kyouji posted... that dude is awesome. Holy crap.
