First thing, do NOT replace screens with videos. That's horrible compared to 10 second screenshot loads for us dial-up users.

Random levels? That sounds... Not good.

I'll put a warning for Dial Up users next time I post videos. The levels aren't exactly random, new maps are being made, categorized in different Worlds. Grass, Mountian, Cave, Tiny, Ice, Sky and Dark.

... A warning? I think screenshots would be easier for everyone...

From what I've seen so far (Half of first video), the level design looks bland. I noticed you took the first level from Super Mario Bros. 2 (Japanese version). It's okay, but I prefer original levels.

Woah, I feel a little creeped out. I was bored, so I typed in Lunar Magic at YouTube, and I saw these levels. That was hours ago before this thread The levels were bland, but sorta ok. Mostly spacious emptiness. The levels just need a little more work done on them

Actually The Hills is based from a Scapped level in SMB3 and 2-1 in SMB. I like recreations.

Screens:

Big trouble.

Star Mario Yosh something. XD

Mario and Yoshi atop a Castle.

Killing Rex.

In the castle one, you need to fix the graphics. Switch the spriteset to castle... Never use the wrong graphics.

Other than you having far too many powerups in the levels, the holes in the scenery, and your SMW skills sucking, this is semi-decent. Fix those issues (I could care less about the latter, though), and you should be all right. Keep up the good work.

By the way, don't go overboard with recreations. They're bland and repetitive.

About 11 years of experience (yes, I started playing Mario games at 3) goes a long way. The levels look a bit easy from what I've played... Maybe if you had a few beta testers or something, they could tell you what would go here and there. Just a suggestion.

The Levels seem pretty short in the videos

Yeah, sorta short. they only seem longer for you sparx, they actually aren't. Try creating exits to other level snow using pipes and that too.

Other than that, good for a no-gfx hack. actually looks quite decent. the night hike needs a barkger BG palette, and the dino-rhino valley level has a nasty BG palette, but otherwise that's a good hack so far.

It looks pretty neat, I might be looking forward to playing this hack.

Note: You might like recreations, but everybody else doesn't.

Screen 3: Eeew, Cement block fort...eeeeew.

Other then that, I see no problem in the screens you've presented.

yeah this isn't bad. The levels could be a bit harder though, but don't make them SO hard they aren't fun. Other than that, this kindof shows you don't NEED a whole lot of exgfx (something I could never figure out and probably never will) to make a decently fun hack.

I quite like the idea of posting videos of levels. I think a healthy combination of screenshots and a few videos would brilliantly display what the hack has to offer.

About the hack: Pretty much like everyone else said: The levels were a little bland, plus the hills is a little star crazy. One star somewhere in the middle is fine, but two with one at the beginning and another at the middle in such a short level is sort of easy. Especially when there aren't very many threatening enemies in the level in the first place.

Anyways: Good job on making videos. I hope other rom hackers do the same.
