I had amnesia at age 5. I remember that I felt like "coming into existance" in an old room, waking up from a broken couch of a house of some place. All I know about this house was it was old, and three cute girls lived in it. I lived with my dad at the time too.

That's when I first found out that Chocolate Milk gave me diarhea.

The girls thought I was "SOOOO CUTE =^__^=". They seemed to be in their early 20's and played and talked with me a lot. For some reason we moved and then all the life as I remembered continued on.

But MAN. I felt FUNKY waking up and wondering what the heck was going on. I was like.... "wha?" Kinda like... being born, and remembering it.

Am I just a weirdo, or did anything like this happen to anyone else?

Some bad flashbacks...

I remember one of my dad's friends tried to suffocate me a few times when I was 4. I also remember nearly drowning in the bathtub a few times.

The furthest I can remember is coming out of a hospital at nighttime wrapped in a blanket while Phil Collins on the radio was singing "Tonight Tonight..." and the sweet smell of car leather. I remember seeing a moon and the telephone poles passing by.

My earliest memory is going to pre-school (I started pre-school at three years old) and crying my eyes out when my mom tried leaving me there. I kept kicking and screaming to the point of throwing up all over the woman trying to hold me back. Oh yeah, smooth.

I also remember countless days of being in my carseat, only being able to see the tops of trees, some power lines, and the sky. But I don't know how old I was.

Well, I've never had amnesia, which is what this thread is about -- although it's now been turned into a "what's your earliest memory" thread.

I've never suffered even a mild concussion as far as head injury goes. I have suffered memory loss due to drinking though.

Amnesia? I don't remember shit about the first several years of my life, but I don't really think that's amnesia as much as just... forgetfulness. Did you have genuine amnesia, or was it like you were just disoriented for a second?

The first thing I remember is being in a kitchen sink when I was real young, getting a bath. I must have been 1. I'm not really sure if that's a true memory or if I fabricated it from knowing that I used to get baths in a sink.

My next memory after that... I guess about 3 years old, at a baby shower for my sister. I'm pretty sure this one is real.

The first memory would either be when I was three years old imitating this old Bugs Bunny cartoon, or with my three year old cousin Shelby taking a bath with me.

I don't know.

I have a very vivid early memory of a night I spent in Chicago. I must have been 2 or something... we were visiting my Aunt's family in their house in downtown Chicago. My parents are always surprised beyond belief that I actually remember that. Besides that I have a pretty fuzzy recollection of went on after that up until I started living in Illinois at age 4 and started actually being aware of things I was doing and what was going on. You know, of watching TV and playing with waterguns, chasing frogs in the woods.

I kind of know what you're talking about. I've passed out before (on purpose), and when I came to, even though I had only been out for a couple of seconds, for at least a few seconds I had the a "just being born" feeling, sort of like I had always been passed out, and everything around me was completely new. It's very wierd.

As for my earliest memory, I have a few memories from when I lived in a large apartment building in south Detroit, I'm not sure what order they happened in. The two most vivid ones were when some guy picked me up and held me over a railing several floors up, and I screamed and cried, then my mom came over and started yelling at the guy, and when I opened up a dresser drawer and there was huge rat in it, I think I screamed and cried over that too.

The closet feeling of amnesia I've ever had was a few weeks ago, actually. It's been raining here a lot recently with large thunderstorms, which is strange because my city is pretty dry most of the time.

Rain is such an odd occurrence here that I decide I wanted to go outside and stand in it, get my hair a little damp or something. Not even four seconds outside and there was a lightning bolt that struck so close to the house (it could have been less than a block away) that I thought that I'd actually been hit.

So I stood there with my ears ringing and eyes seeing nothing but a giant after image, and all my mind would think was, "Oh my God, I've just been struck by lightning." It's like somebody had hit the restart button. Then everything returned to normal and I realized that I hadn't been hit. I felt really foolish even thought there was no one else around.

My first memory is at the Natural History Museum and being afraid of the volcano exibit.

The only time I ever had anything resembling amnesia was at about 8 years old. I crashed into a tree at a fairly good pace while riding a toboggan. I knew I'd just crashed into a tree, but I didn't know where I was. Then I heard my teacher's voice, and I was surprised for a while... Only several minutes later did I remember that I was at school, even though it should have been pretty obvious, what with a bunch of classmates and my teacher there. Getting hit in the head does weird things to you.

Not actual amnesia, but I've "lost time" before. Generally it's just a few seconds, but it weirds people out when I've been talking to them actively and suddenly I can't remember what we're talking about. One time as a little kid (maybe five or six) I lost a whole day without noticing. I went to sleep and when I woke up it was two days later. Apparently I had been acting completely normally during that time that just wasn't there in my memory.

I had that happen when I drank way too much caffiene. I'd go downstairs to get a drink and when I got halfway down the stairs I'd forget WTF I was doing.
