I just beat world 5 of the demo. and overall, I really like it. The graphics in the levels look good, although some levels (such as Luccara Plains 2) feel like they need more scenery objects in various places. Also, I would like to note that before I played this I had planned to have the Star World in my hack set up almost exactly the same as yours is set up, except mine would have another star at the end leading to Bowser's castle...

Sigh. All the levels are done, and I've eliminated every glitch I could find, but... The title screen. It still sucks, and I am no artist capable of making one better.

Yeah, it looks good enough for a hack that looks like it doesn't have any effort put into it. And from what I've seen and the little bit I played (don't wanna have to play a game with no proper ending), this hack definitely deserves something better.

Trace over some other letters and pretend you made them. Also, the words are way too small to be not centered. I don't know what that means but I think it would look a little better with the words "Mario's Return" centered.

Also the curtains bother me. just add like some edges, since the background's blue and the shading is super-flat they look like Mario Paint curtains except not as good.

If you could describe what would look better, maybe one of us could make something for you?

I really can't work too much of at all with the "curtain," actually... It's using the background's palette, and so. Eh.

The text should be a lot better here, though.

Text looks nice but...I dunno.

If I were you, I would just remove the curtain altogether. It would look fine without it, but thats just my opinion, you may not think so.

I want SOME kind of border... Really, if someone wanted to draw something, that'd be really nice. I'm sure you know the dimensions, and as long as it uses but three colors and has no more than 78 unique tiles, I can put it in.

Awesome. Just works on the curls a bit, and that'll be great. Sorta... use a gradient line sort of thing... on a regular bright-blue Background, have a dark blue line, with a medium blue line beside it,. going up on a curve that follows the curve of the outer edge of the curtain's graphics. add a couple folds each side, and that'll be beautiful.

Clear as mud, right

There it's perfect, no need to change it anymore. Now will you release the game?

Yeah, I'm just gonna call it done.

See you after my beta testers are done with it.

I actually think it needs a border on the bottom to keep the screen from looking so empty down there. The copyright notice doesn't frame the screen as well as the curtains do.

It looks a lot better when there's ground under there, really. Obviously there's none in that shot, though...

I thought about that. Maybe you could try lowering the notice. Something about the bottom looks off to me.

Or maybe I'm full of it and you can ignore me. I doubt such a small change really matters that much.

I can't imagine myself opening a hack, looking at the title screen, and thinking "hm, this border lacks a little... I'm not playing this".

Still, first impressions. Nobody wants to start up a game to see curtains that look like THAT. They look like something an 8 year old would come up with after playing around in MS Paint a bit.

Shame on you, Kyouji. Nobody likes a lazy title screen artist.

It's a good thing I didn't draw them, and merely accepted the best of what came my way.

Over the period of the several months since I first asked for a new one to be drawn.

More like shame on everyone but me for sucking.
