You know what strikes me as funny?
How none of you have an original bone in your body. You all wouldn't be using this program to its fullest by recreating old enemies. Yes, its been done before, but why not do something new? How about a sprite that runs, jumps, and at times places random blocks around to impede your path to him? Or a sprite that stands still on the screen like a tank and shoots at Mario while the level autoscrolls? There are limitless possibilities with this, and you all are stuck with SMAS... |

Yeah, those are pretty easy to make in Notepad.
Anyway if you want originality, how about blocks such as Note Blocks, Boost Blocks etc that follow Mario around? Coins that bounce? A giant Bob-Omb that explodes into 3 regular Bob-Ombs? |

Well i would think that maybe we could find new uses for these old enemys that Nintendo never thought of, and that alone has merit.
Maybe with some tweaking we could make the classic enemys more of a challenge. I wonder, can you stand on those shy guys just like in SMB2? That would be awesome. Maybe we could remake the game boy donkykong at this rate, but in a 16 bit fashion. I'm sure many of you remember the donky kong game on the monochrome game boy, it starts off like the old donkey Kong but then goes into these newer cooler stages... that was my fav donkey kong to date.. but i digress. My point is that with enough work this tool could help with making way better hacks then we have seen thus far. I do like that bob omb idea though, that would rock. Oh, you know what'd be awesome, a Turret Bill that tries to turn toward Mario and fire Bullet Bills.
Also, "Bad Hack Design Brother" which follows Mario at a fast speed, jumps randomly, takes 5 fireballs to kill, and throws boomerangs, fireballs, hammers, and spikeys. Oh, and you could do Wallmasters from Zelda by making like the sprite invisible and then visible and then it comes down and maybe acts like a door or whatever or I don't know if that's possible but even if it just hurt Mario it would be pretty cool. also maybe you could have a shrapnel-bob-omb thing that has shrapnel or some jumping flames Also for a boss you could have like a weird-looking koopa that acts like the SMB3 Bowser and you have to make him fall in a tiny hole. So, this program looks pretty good. Very, very nice job. I dunno if it'll be easy to make the things people are saying, but the outlook is pretty good. |

Oh, you just gave me a nice idea: A door that periodically gets up and wanders around. You could have it wander between screens to change where it takes you. Even fake doors that explode. | |||

A gigantic bob-omb. When it explodes, it hurts. Bad.
A bomb-block, similar to the Kirby series. A mine-cart that Mario can hop in and guides him along a track. Kinda like a line guide platform with layer priority over mario, it goes really fast, and has sides to it, so you'd have to jump out. |

I was thinking if it would be possible to make characters that don't attack you but speak. For example make a koopa stand and when you get close to it and press a button it displays the message of the level like the talking block (which I think it's an sprite). It doesn't seem too hard...
another idea would be a sprite that acts exactly as Luigi, except it can't carry powerups and the camera doesn't move with him. That would be used to make a 2 player game. Or "evil characters" That have the same moves as the playable characters but more powerful. But this would require awesome ASM skills... Or even the different watermelons from Yoshi's Island... |

If there's a way to edit Mario's powerups, we could add new ones without replacing the old ones. for example let's say we want Fire flower, cape and ice flower, we could create the sprite of the ice flower that sets Mario's status to a value. Then we copy the fire mario's data in that value and edit it to create the ice mario.
But that would be very hard I guess... and maybe the data corresponding to the values of mario's power is used by other things... (edited by Shiryu on 07-09-06 04:45 PM) |

It would be possible to make a bully from SM64, and it would be easy. change Chuck's graphics to a bully and instead of hurting Mario move him fast in a direction like the moving blocks in blocktool. | |||

It's possible to make a small bully using monty mole and Hyperhacker's Reconfigurer. It's still lethal when you hit it though... |
