| There was something incredibly wonderful about watching Ronaldo doing that thing where he played the ball behind his feet and kicked it with the heel you wouldn't expect him to kick it with.
Was it his display of technique, you ask. No, it was the fact that the ball went straight to Klose who could start a counter-attack, thus displaying what I've always said. Ronaldo's got fancy moves and all, but they ain't worth shit in a football match. |

| If you check Youtube, you'll see that there are several videos of Cristiano (and other members of the team, but he's featured) diving like crazy. Even moreso than usual in soccer.
And now he wants to leave Manchester United and says that HE'LL decide where he's going to go? Next thing you know he's going to announce the transfer fee as well. |

| C.Ronaldo has the moves, but the dives and his lack of being able to get his team goals really doesn't make him that great, at least from what I've seen in this World Cup. Deco is a much better player for Portugal, he creates for teammates and doesn't dribble himself into 3 defenders and then dive, hoping for a bad call and a PK. | |||

| Interesting observation. Germany has 14 goals in 7 matches, which is really good, actually.
However, 7 of those 14 goals came in only two matches, 4 against Costa Rica and 3 against Portugal. What's the difference between those two matches and the other five? Michael Ballack. He didn't play against Costa Rica or Portugal. Now, I ain't saying he's bad for the team, coz he's a really good player and he's created some awesome chances for Germany throughout the entire World Cup, but it is still a fact that Germany scores a heck of a lot more without him on the field. |

| Maybe the play style is a little different when Ballack's on the field, but they still got some good results with him on it.
Of course, if I recall correctly, both of those games had Schweinsteiger playing a big role.  |

| That penalty was BS. Clear dive by Malouda and he wasn't even touched; and even if he was brushed just a little bit, he sold it way too much. (I'm cheering for France, but come on...)

| What... an idiot. WHY would you give yourself a red card 5 minutes into the second overtime? WHY? There goes the captain, there goes the hope. The overtime was uneventful and slow, and penalty kicks suck when it comes to actually determining who is better. France clearly outplayed Italy, but... that's not how it looks when Italy gets the title, does it. Oh well. Italy for 2006. *sigh*

| I just don't understand.
This actually hurts. I'm not even french, I'm Italian for christsakes, and to see Zidane do that...I just don't get it. France should have won, they outplayed Italy completely, and if it wasn't for one corner, Zidane would have gone out on top. shame |
