You'll find here the prologue of "Windfire".
Currently i'm not further but i'm working on it. Before i start now, i'll give you a short view over the main character.

Reyes Fleming, the main character
A young boy from a northern village called Cardamon. He's on a journey to the south to attach the seal of fire on his weapon. Only then he'll be fully accepted as a true warrior in his village. He possess a strong will and is very optimistic.
Age: 16
Hairs: brown
Eyes: blue
Weapon: Spear
Magic: none

-------------------------------- Prologue starts here

He get the feeling that something is wrong in this place. He can't really tell what it is. The weird table under the window, that strange, sweet smell in the air, which reminds him at the smell of death and decay or that bookshelf with all the old, dusty books.
Probably, Reyes' just imagine those wrong things because he's waiting in this small room for hours. He's waiting for a certain person who telled him, he'll come soon. He wonders now what "soon" means to a man like Jed Sidney. A man who works with books and maps around the clock.
He stands up and goes to the bookshelf. Normally, he don't like to read in books. In his opinion, they are all boring. But one book caught his attention. A huge book, bound in old red leather and with a heavy silver chain as ornament. The clasp of the chain has the form of a dragon. A dragon with red eyes who glares and stares at him...
"What do you think you're doing?"
Caught by the fright, Reyes almost let the book fall. With much skill and an elegant movement, he pushes it back into the bookshelf, before he turned himself to Jed, who stands now right behind him.
"I'm sorry, i was only... curious." It seems, Jed don't really care now for lame excuses. "Curiosity gives you not the right to snoop in others property!" Reyes nods only guilty, before he returns to the armchair, where he waited before.
Jed himself starts to calm down and takes place behind his table.
"Your name is Reyes Fleming, right?" Reyes nods agreeing. He don't want to interrupt Jed now with formalitys. It wouldn't be necessary anyway.
"I call you Reyes then. You're just a boy anyway. Pia said, you need a special map from here to Ruddygem. Is this right?"
Reyes wanted to say Jed, he can call him simply Reyes, but that he calls him now just a boy and that he thinks, this gives him the right to talk that way with him, it irritates him quite a bit. He gives himself no effort to hide his annoyance. "Yes, that's right. Someone said me, it is hard to find an easy way to Ruddygem, but you know the easyest way."
Jed twitches the shoulders. It seems, he's wondering through Reyes' angry voice, but he looks not confused or surprised. "Yes... but i need to draw a new map. The last one to Ruddygem i had here has left this room yesterday." Reyes listens up. "Yesterday? Who..." Jed shakes negatively his head. "I can't tell. You need to wait until i'm done. Or, you can go now and choose the harder way."
Reyes sighs frustrated. But there's one thing that lighten up the day. He don't need to wait in this room any longer.
"I take a room in the next inn. I'll visit you again tomorrow. And please, don't let me wait again here for so long..." After Jed promised to be here the next day with the finished map, Reyes leaves the room. When he's back outside of this dusty house, he feels like reborn. A cold drink would be nice now.
