Hi i'm generally new to the boards, well you see i am trying to make 2 tiny mod hacks of wolverine for nes. 3 claw hack and 3 claw hack blue suit, where he wheres the other one.
the thing is is that I need to change the pallete. Is there a way to change actual palletes from YY-CHR. Also i downloaded NESpallete editor, and it was very horrid that I changed all the darn 16 # colors(the color number wolverine's RED/BROWN color is at). Yet no blue! I made a small pic of wolvie changing the pallete in the VirtuaNES and took a pic so you know what I want. ^^Cool? |

YY-CHR? Nope. You'll need to find the palettes in a hex editor. Find an emulator that can show the palettes (like FCEUXD) and search for the hex values.

Well, if he had meant FCE Ultra (FCEU), he wouldn't have added the XD. FCEUXD is FCE Ultra eXtended Debug, which adds a debugger, PPU viewer, hex editor, and other such hacking goodies to FCEU. The PPU viewer is what you want. The bottom of the PPU viewer displays 32 colors (8 sets of 4 colors); find the set of 4 colors for the thing you want to change, hover your mouse over the color, and write down the hex value that appears for each color. Search for those 4 colors in the ROM in their consecutive order and you'll find your palette. Change it to the colors you want and you're set. There are 64 colors to choose from. Here's a chart:
The values for these colors start with 00 in the top left, with colors increasing by 1 as you go down and 10 as you go right, for a maximum of 3F at the bottom right (and 30 at the top right and 0F at the bottom left. Yes, there's a row of pure black at the bottom, and apparently another row that's cut off, but that's black, too. Use 0F if you want a black color). Hope that helps. Edit: Oh, and I wanted to point out that that chart was first posted on NesDev. It's likely fairly reliable. (edited by NetSplit on 07-07-06 02:11 AM) |

Good news, thanks! It's done!!
Looks pretty good. I also added something to his run on both, wich is him moving his head back and forth. Only problem is that the burgers are now blue pretty patties, but that fine. worth seeing wolverine in his blue siut for. Now for release, would I release a patch or the whole zip? Patch. ROMs aren't allowed. If you need to know how the make a patch, there's a couple ways, but I use LunarIPS.
