I, for one, am in favor of letting Danielle choose what she wants to do. If she wants to kick the habit that is coffee, then let her. Besides, there was some report saying that white bread is the only common source of some mineral, yet I still eat brown bread. It (brown bread) seems to taste a little better (and looks cooler), too.

Eh, sometimes caffiene gives me an energy boost, other times it just gives me gas. I try to avoid drinking more than half a liter per day, except when we order a pizza and a ton of Pepsi, then it's kinda difficult not to drink a lot. (Juice + pizza = eww no.)

Speaking of energy drinks, I bought a HUGE bottle of some drink this morning, since I had to do PHP coding on 4 hours of sleep. Cost me 3 dollars. I took one drink and a fucking bug flew in it and ruined the entire bottle.

Yeah! Brown bread is by far superior. I don't see why white bread would have something wheat or rye bread doesn't though... but I suppose it's possible.

I usually get multi-grain german dark wheat bread when I can find it, though I'll settle for dark rye in a pinch.

*edit* Hyper, I'd have finished the bottle anyway, what's a bug here and there?

Well, it has a longer shelf life. You can guess why many people like it so. However, I forgot the exact mineral that white bread contains that is not found in brown bread. Whatever it is, though, it probably is more worth it in the end to eat brown bread.

Decaf.

Wheat bread tastes disgusting to me... White plus butter is just awesome. I have butter sandwhiches sometimes...

I'd be lying if I said I've never done that.
I sometimes have mayonaise sandwiches too. Those sometimes usually happen when I'm out of meat and cheese and soup and milk (because PB without milk would be torture.)

I also put butter on my PB sandwiches unless I have mayhaw jelly. They're good that way.
I've recently discovered Peter Pan honey flavored PB. It is the sweetness.

Wow this is really off topic. But it's already typed out so what the hell?

I can't eat anything BUT white bread.

Quick snack is usually that + peanut butter, jam or a combo.

Wheat bread is only really edible if you have a lot of condiments to cover its flavour.

If I could have fished the bug out I'd have just done so and drank it anyway, but the bottle's neck was too long and narrow to reach in. I tried dumping out some of it, but the damn thing would just float to the back, no way it was coming out.

Well, anyone who eats bread plain is just weird in my opinion. Personally, I'm all right with eating whole wheat bread with just cheese on it if need be. But my personal favorite combination is tuna on toasted whole wheat bread. You don't know what it's like until you've tried it.

White bread is nice. There's nothing quite like the taste of fresh, white bread.

However, I hear that the white bread made in Australia is VASTLY different to that in the US. The most common complaint I hear from returning Australians about US bread is that it's incredibly sugary.

I eat a very grainy bread more often than not though. Better for you.

Decaf.

Never say that word again, mister.

Eh, it's not that I'm trying to kick the habit, I'm just trying to lose some weight this summer (when I work at a god damn ice cream store, YEAH RIGHT) and I know that coffee is very bad for you unless you use nonfat everything and drink decaf. Which I don't. When school starts back up, you can bet I'll be drinking coffee again. I can't do 5 AM mornings without it.

Pfft. I've lost 20kg (44lbs) and I didn't have to give up coffee.

Don't think that just cause you're trying to lose weight means you have to give up on your favourite things. It just means you have to be more careful about enjoying those things -- don't have them all the time, for example.

Coffee hasn't affected my weight. I mean, I don't drink 8 cups a day but still.

You could just not drink coffee on the weekends or something like that. :\ And AVOID the ice cream because god knows that's worse.

I'm not a huge coffee person. Reminds me too much of licking as ashtray, flavor wise. Only way you can get me to drink it is putting enough milk and sugar in it to mask the flavor entirely. I'm definitely an energy drink person though. Monster brand is my favorite. I'm partial to the original and to the Khaos blends.

As for bread, wheat is the greatest thing in the whole world of the breads. White bread tastes funny. It's very flavorless and it seems to disintegrate too easily, there's nothing to chew.

Danielle: I share your pain. Except it's soda and energy drinks for me instead of coffee. School's impossible without that caffiene kick that early. I recommend caffiene pills, if that's what you drink the coffee for. One pill is usually the equivalent of a cup of coffee and if you drink water you spare the calories and still get the kick. Plus, you keep the hydration caffiene makes you lose.

Take a hack saw and cut the neck off...

Or tip the bottle straight up and down, then drink the whole thing on the spot... then fall over dead three seconds later - I mean, has anyone else noticed the warning labels on energy drinks? The go something like, "Not recommended for Pregnent or nursing women, children under the age of twelve, or those with a sensetivity to caffeine"...

BTW offtopic question, but does anyone here know someone who died cause of caffeine?

(Yes, my speaal|ing sucks tonight)

Well, I put creamer in my coffee, which I know isn't good for you... and I have more than one cup. Probably two or three, depending on the day. It's a mug that I fill up, and it's pretty big. But eh, I know that I don't NEED to give it up... I'm just choosing to, at least for the summer. I figure if there's one thing I don't want to give up, it's the soda. So for the time being, I'll skip the coffee and reward myself with a soda every now and then.

Avoiding the ice cream is a whole different story. You know how hard that is when you WORK there, and it's offered to you for half the price? Takes a lot of self control. But I'm doing good so far.

Caffeine pills.... nah. I don't need it that badly. Soda is something I like because of it's wonderful flavor and carbonation, not the caffeine. But I don't like decaf coffee, so I have a feeling that it's the caffeine that makes the coffee, for me. As long as I just limit myself... to a cup a day or so... it shouldn't be a problem!

"The volume of caffeine required assures a lethal dose is virtually impossible. The LD50 for caffeine is estimated at 150 mg/kg body weight or approximately 10 grams for the averaged size human. A standard 6 ounce cup of coffee contains 1-2 mg/kg of caffeine. People with heart problems should avoid caffeine consumption because of its effects on blood pressure and heart rate. Fatalities are likely to occur only with intravenous administration."

(from here)

So, unless you're taking bottles of caffeine pills, you should be good.

Edit: This is a related funny little thing. Death by Caffeine
