I think he meant any N64 game, not only Super Mario 64. The ROM extender only works with Mario 64 (and even then you still need a tile editor to view the textures).

My solution is much easier if you have a good enough computer.

If anyone wants it, here's the code to play as Yoshi in SM64!!
D134B89E 0860
8134B89C 8019
D134B89E 0860
8134B89E 4E28

(You can only play as Yoshi while outside the castle. You automatically turn back into Mario if you go inside the castle, and turn back into Yoshi if you go back outside).

I'd post rhe code and the data to turn into other characters but I'm not sure if that would be allowed in this topic.

Well I don't want to edit textures etc, I just want to view the contents of a N64 rom and want to be able to compile it back into a working rom. Could someone give me directions?

why not make a new thread for this. that way people who know about this will notice it more easily than they would in this thread.

To use simply add the last 4 characters of the object you want to be to the end of 8133B4D6

(i.e. to play as a star, you'd add 8B9C to 8133B4D6. and you get 8133B4D6 8B9C)

also: objects only work in their defined areas.

There are more objects, but you'd need their locations to make a code.

For instance here are the locations of the Bob-omb Battlefield enemies (I think):

Model pointers:
800F8544: Small puff of dust
800F8AA4: ?
800F8C00: Invisible Star
800F8C4C: Sign
800F9160: Butterfly
800F9298: ?
800F9BF4: ?
800F9C24: 1-Up Mushroom
8018CF9C: Moving Platform
8018CFCC: Big Block
8018D04C: Big Block
8018D17C: Item Block
8018D22C: Goomba
8018D260: Giant Goomba (Glitch)
8018D3B8: Exclamation Point
8018D3D0: Green Shell
8018D41C: Giant Steel Block
8018D47C: Bob-Omb
8018D978: Cannon
8018D914: Bob-Omb Buddies Cannon Cover
8018D9A4: Cannon Base
8018D9D0: Heart
8018DA00: ShyGuy
8018F02C: Chain Chomp
8018F060: Giant Chain Chomp (Glitch)
8018F270: Log
8018F2A0: Tree
8018F330: Gate

You can potencially change any object in the game, but you'd need their structural coordinates. For instance the structure of the first Goomba in BoB is : 803401A8

I have a question. While hex editing I added Mario behavors to the end of an
object and when I fired up Mario 64 all of mario's behavors ( Speed, fall rate, punches, exc) were dubble that of normal. Can anyone tell me why this happens?

mario's behavor data
0000 0001 1300 2EC0

0x004546b8 (old object data)
2418 1F00 1520 1194 0E35 0000 00E1 0000
000A 0000 1300 2F64

0x004546b8 (edited object data)
2418 1F00 1520 1194 0E35 0000 00E1 0000
0000 0001 1300 2EC0

Also do any of you guys know th behavor data for objects that mario can walk through with the vanash cap?

Thanks in advance.

You can view it's textures through tile molester, but the contents of the rom can only be seen with a hex editor. Once you enter the hex-code world, things get pretty confusing.... Actually, really confusing.

P.S. Started hacking super mario 64, instead of super mario 64 ds?
