Tarale 2710 Affected by 'Princess Bitch-Face Syndrome' ++++!! Persona non grata Since: 11-17-05 From: Adelaide, Australia Last post: 6431 days Last view: 6431 days |

At work, I sometimes go for coffee. As of a few weeks ago, I thought it would be nice to let my "buddy" at work know when I was going, in case he wanted me to get one for him too.
When I returned, another colleague said "I wish you'd told me you were getting coffee". And so the next time I bought a coffee for both colleagues. Then the boss went "Where's mine?" From this humble beginning, a daily "coffee run" has formed. Today I purchased 9 coffees. It was commented on the way back from the coffee place, when I had my "lackey" (another colleague) helping me carry the excessive coffee back to the office, that I'm effectively a drug dealer. I (re)sell an addictive substance I profit from this (stamps on my loyalty card = MANY free coffees) I am making colleagues more addicted to coffee than they previously were, leading to further profit. So yeah, I'm a drug dealer. Fun I have cards in my purse for three free coffees. Bwahahaha. |

...9 coffees at one time?!?
I think you should start boosting the price of the coffee very soon. Just by a little bit... you know, 10 cents here and there... until they're paying $10/coffee. |

My reply in the other topic...
And to add on to that, don't be silly. By your same comparison logic, Microsoft Windows is a virus. I mean, it affects your computer's behavior, slows it down and often impedes your ability to get work done. Get it??? XD XD XD...no. You're not a drug dealer. (edited by asdf on 06-28-06 10:55 PM) |

I have no idea how this double posted -- It didn't post at all initially.. weird Sorry... please trash the other thread.
And yeah... 9 coffees. The most I can carry myself is 6 in a tray -- so I needed somebody else to help me today. It's trickier still if somebody wants a muffin with their coffee, and I periodically get to look like some kind of sugar thief when I shove handfuls of sugar packets in my jacket pockets before leaving. The money situation with it is also getting so confusing I now have an Excel Spreadsheet set up with the following fields: Name -- Type of Coffee Ordered -- Cost -- Money Given -- Change Otherwise I get too messed up with all the random small change thrown at me (usually while I'm busy doing other work too) and I forget to give people change! And the maximum anybody pays for coffee is $4.75 -- and that's me, with a Large, Mocha Latte with 3 shots of espresso |

Caffeine doesn't really do much for me at all... except in very large doses. Then I go from no noticable effect to OMFG WIRED!!1! A few cups of coffee? Doesn't wake me up or give me a boost. An entire blender full of my espresso milkshakes? I'm typing a million miles an hour and pounding on the desk in between sentences. Of course my espresso milkshakes are alcoholic so having a little buzz might have something to do with that too...

I only require coffee on days when I'm working, or perhaps when I am hungover.
I don't require even the slightest caffeine boost on weekends, public holidays or such. The benefits I find of coffee is that I just seem to cope better with stresses, be a little more cheerful and mentally alert. I don't get a real buzz from it like I used to unless I drink more than my 1 (3 espresso shot) coffee... in which case I would feel ill, not good. But yeah, in general I just cope with being a Help Desk Drone a lot better when I'm caffeinated. There's less client-hate too. I think I worked out the reason behind the doublepost too -- seems we're having intermittent internet and network issues here at work today. JOY!! |

I can't pay more than $2 for coffee, I'm not that fancy but I've told you that before.
Espresso milkshakes? You need to admit that you have a problem. |

< Also: Interesting way of putting it. I'm suprised you don't have coffee machines in the office, but if you make profit... who cares? =P |

Yeah, well, I call a drug dealer someone who deals illegal substances (and coffee is not an illegal substance :p). I know a lot of people who deal, from weed to xtc, speed, coke, around here you can get whatever your heart (or addiction) desires.

Caffeine just gives me bad breath and hurts my back. It doesn't remedy drowsiness whatsoever; I've become immune to that super-hype effect.
Ohm! Taryn selling drugs to her co-workers! OMfg! How could you!? |

I made a deal with myself to not drink coffee this summer, and now you're making me crave it.
I do that sometimes as well. I go to Starbuck's on my way to school sometimes, and my friend would call me and beg that I bring her some too -- she'd pay me back and then give some interest! But eh, I don't think it's a big deal. At least, not until my friend goes broke from spending all her money on coffee. |

Oh yeah, I heard about that too. But coffee is also loaded with caffeine, and can therefore be addictive.
And if you load it up with flavoring/sugar, it's definitely not so healthy if you drink too much. |

I'll usually make a run to the 7-11 to grab caffeinated beverages (pop) for people at work as well. Except only 4 people work there. And usually only 1 or 2 at a time. So I don't get the carrying vast amounts of beverage problem.
