| Boom and Bio, the problem here is that we're receiving more and more bad "students" who can't be even bothered to use proper English. They expect us to basically just do their entire hack for them while they sit back and relax.
Meanwhile, the good hackers who do learn stuff for themselves start to get annoyed of answering the same questions over and over again, especially if they are already answered in the sticky. So they politely tell the n00bs to go read the sticky. Guess what? They didn't. So eventually our patience begins to wear thin, and we start snapping and flaming at n00bs hoping that they'll either shape up or go home. Since most of them don't, they end up getting banned. Look at the first page. Out of 46 non-sticky threads, 4 of them are about hacks. 4 are title screen and end credits editing questions. 5 are overworld questions. 5 are ExGFX questions. 4 are questions that actually may prove to be of some use. 18 are miscellaneous generic SMW questions. 3 are questions that have to do with the forum itself. The remaining three have become flame-holes. So that leaves us with a grand total of 38 threads that have little significance to the majority of the SMW hacking community, while the remaining eight stand out among the crowd. This says a lot about what this forum has become. I hope that, by the end of this post, we can all agree that we need to take more drastic measures against the wannabe n00b hackers who can't at least try to do shit for themselves. |

Some of them don't have the ability to use proper English. 
Anyway, yeah. This is why I think there needs to be a n00b SMW hacking forum. So that we can take away their ability to post here, without them being unable to get questions answered. So they can help themselves out. So we won't have to care. And so they don't have to be exposed to too much flaming... because if you're not going to answer the question anyway, it's better to remain silent, imo. (edited by Boom.dk on 06-24-06 05:31 PM) |

| Well, look at it this way.
I'm your generic n00b, and for this example i'm going to PM you a lot. Now, say I always ask questions such as, "How Do I Change The Title Screen???", or "How Do I Add New Graphics???" At first, it might not be too annoying, you just answer the question, right? What do you do if I don't stop, though? Eventually you ignore me and delete my PMs. Now, if I KEEP doing this again and again, wouldn't you eventually get very tired of the questions and just snap at one and flame them, or tell them to read the goddamn faq? That's where a lot of people are in the forum, I think. Is just telling n00bs to read the goddamn faq becvause we're just so tired of the incessant questions. |

| Same here... Honestly, what I think this forum needs is to have adv. SMW hacking brought back, so that the good hackers can compare notes and talk aobut their hacks without having them drowned in a flood of shitty threads. I look in here now, and the forum DOES look like it belongs in crap. | |||

Basic SMW hacking: Minor ASM, Blocktool, custom blocks, posting hacks. n00b SMW hacking: ExGFX, Map16, Overworld, most of Lunar Magic. Topics should be purged every seven days like Boom said. |

| First, we create the SMW category.
There will be three forums in the category. 1) SMW Questions -This is the place where you can ask generic questions about SMW. Be warned, if it is answered in a sticky, it will be closed and unanswered. 2)Generic SMW -Here you can talk about hacks, ideas, Blocktool, ExGFX, or interesting finds like this. If questions are asked in here, they will be unanswered and deleted. 3)Advenced SMW -This will be a private forum that is only allowable after making at least 50 posts and proving yourself worthy to it's moderators. Talk about advanced topics such as making a SMW specific program, hex editing, etc. Another idea is to make it for overall hacking, for people who live outside SMW. This is my idea. I've borowed from a few other ideas, but with my own little touch. |

one for questions and general hacking discussion and one for hack announcements and screenshots *edit* also to prevent accidental spamming of the hack announcements forum maybe someone can figure out how to set it so that you can't start a thread without including at least 2 picture attachments in your post. | I believe that newbies and such should receive a PM automatically as they join the forums saying that they should read the faqs cause I don't think they see it. *Even though it's right there with a sticky* I also think more bans should be dished out to idiots like that guy who made the topic about XK. With things like that happening this board should be at least half way back to normal. so long story short stealthy method is good. oh before I forget bans and such shouldn't apply to people that just want simple info that isn't in the faqs hardly like ExGFX in overworld and events in overworld. Also *Even though hardly anyone payed any attention to it. I think the topic about pming and IMing people for help should be restickied it may help instead of looking threw smallhacker's profile and searching his list of post and searching for that topic.
