Say it with me kids - Philipp Lahm. He made Poland look like fools at times from his left back role. Only thing missing today was a goal from his involvement. Other than that, he was pretty much fantastic. All in all, Poland was totally destroyed by a German team that deserved to win a lot more than 1-0.

And I don't get the whining over the time slots. 15:00, 18:00, and 21:00 fits me perfectly.

As for the big match yesterday, Brazil were lucky to win it. Ronaldo was woeful. I've never seen a more immobile player in my life. His longest and fastest run was when he ran towards the subs bench to be rightfully taken off.
Anyway, I was close to killing some people at the pub yesterday. Basically, every time the Brazilians did anything that meant more than simply passing the ball forward (such as making rather unimpressive technique moves that basically any player in the world can do, and that is done a fair ammount of times during a match) some people in the audience went "Whoa! Yeah!" as if the player had pulled off the greatest stunt in the universe. If any other player for any other team had done it, no one would have reacted, but as soon as a Brazilian does it, it's all "Oh my God, this person is the greatest player to have graced God's green earth!". Get over yourselves, already, the Brazilians ain't greater than sliced bread.

I have yet to make a sandwich with Brazilians. But I almost always use bread. Or at least sliced meat in place of bread.

Honestly, the KSA and Tunisia game was really fun to watch. It was exciting and I liked it. However, I just don't feel that they're going to represent a challenge to Spain or Ukraine. But I'm probably wrong on the last one.

I was ranting about Ronaldo to anyone who would listen yesterday. :\ He was so... so... HORRID. I don't think he's done but he hardly put in a good effort yesterday and even though Robinho wasn't fantastic or anything in the match, he was a huge improvement workrate-wise over Ronaldo.

I wouldn't drop him for the next game but I'd keep him on a tight leash. If he looks out of shape and is invisible at the half, he's GONE. No excuses.

¡Viva España!

Feeling pretty good about putting a bit of money on them to win the cup yesterday. Spain have been comprehensively the best side I've seen so far, for mine. I know they're chokers, but I like to back a realistic longshot and 15-1 was too good to pass up.

The whole point with Spain, Arwon, is that they use all energy they've got at looking really good in the opening matches, while the other big teams play it cool and wait for the important rounds. That way, when push comes to shove, Spain is out of goodieness, and they lose out. You'd think they'd learn one day, but obviously not.

That being said, I actually believed Spain could go all the way 4 years ago. Of course, they could have gone all the way back then if they hadn't had the ref. they had against Korea, so it wasn't as much a choke back then, as it was horrible refing.

And I'm sure you ranted about Ronaldo yesterday, Colin, but I wasn't there then, so I'll do my ranting about him now.

I need to rant to you about him if he sucks against Australia.

Spain might have been the best through the first 16 games but there's still two more sets of 16 to so. Lots of teams are going to be looking to solidify their credentials after poor performances, like England and Sweden tomorrow.

Yeah I know the history, but they're really talented and I figured they've gotta do it eventually. Plus I might as well have my money where my emotional support is, if I'm gonna back a longshot...

Damned people setting up meetings in the middle of the World Cup. I'm missing both the England and Sweden match tonight, and I only get the first half of Costa Rica's. *grumble, grumble*

I don't know if you noticed or not yesterday, but Karim Essediri came on for Tunisia. He is the fourth player to have been in the World Cup and to have played for Tromsø at some point during his career. The other three being Sigurd Rushfeldt, Roger Nilsen, and Tore Andre Flo (of which Rushfeldt even played for Tromsø while he was in the 1994 World Cup). So, even though Essediri no longer dons Tromsø's red and white colours, I'm just happy to see a player who spent a few seasons at the club do well for his national side.

Ohh well... Costa Rica vs. Ecuador in 15 minutes.

Well, all you need to do now is find a way to get Pedersen into the World Cup.

To all England fans... I'm very, very sorry. This team is not looking good at ALL.

They could have easily lost if Beckham didn't get two assists and if they didn't clear a T&T shot off the line in the first half. The team can't score, it's like Sweden.

If England turns it on against Sweden, they might be OK.

If they look like crap... I picked them as a choice to go all the way but there's no way three bad performances = World Cup.

Today was the first day I didn't get to see any games. I was kinda of hoping for Poland to win.

I watched the Paraguay / Sweden game. It was interesting to watch (even if the only goal was at the 89th)

Netherlands/Ivory Coast are just about to start, and I'll FINALLY get to watch the whole game now that school is over.

Don't really know much about either team though.

The timings are perfect for me -- 19:30, 21:30 and 00:30, Yay! And about the England match, Lampard missed 7 chances which is sad and the first half was totally boring! But Terry's clearance (the one periliously close to the line) was superb.

On Ivory Cost vs Netherlands, I hope it's not a draw.

p.s. I'm the kind of person who's hoping BRAZIL DON'T WIN

...Jeeze, this game is intense. The ref is an idiot though, all the yellow cards he's giving out are just... uncalled for, and the way the players are CONSTANTLY fouling each other... just play clean, jeeze.

I'm impressed with the Netherlands defense, they're incredibly strong.

Netherlands won 2-1.

But it was interesting 'till the end.

And Argentina won in earlier game against Serbia, 6-0. That wasn't even funny.
