Right, when Mario is swimming, he lets of bubbles. Now I don't want to disable this out right, although I don't mind if I do.
I am thinking of placing a couple of space levels in my hack. So instead of trying some big ASM thing, I'm simply making the level act like a water level. But when I do this mario gives off the bubbles. So what I want to know is - Is there any codes out there that I can place into my hack that disables the bubbles on a couple of levels. If you can't do that, but can disable the bubbles completly, that'll have to do I did try to find the GFX for the bubbles so that I could make them unseeable with see thru black, but I was unable to find them in either seperate .bins or in the allgfx.bin Thanks for any help that can be given, and sorry If this question has been asked before. |

Err... delete the GFX of the bubbles.

Pete. He said that he couldn't find the GFX.
Anyway. The bubbles are in GFX00.bin (or the start of AllGFX.bin). It's near the upper right corner if I recall correctly. |

I think the Bubble is a sprite from another bank. Like Fireball, Hammer, Wiggler's Flower, etc.
And I'm quite sure I saw a ROM address of "What Mario spawns underwater". So If you find it, change it to 00, or EA, whatever, I dunno. Anyways, I'll try to find it. |

Raccoon Sam, by changing that value, could you have mario spontaneously shoot fireballs or hammers while swimming?
(I know that would serve no purpose, but it would be funny to see.) (edited by Kario on 06-12-06 10:26 AM) |

He could mean if he's using a Hammer Bros. Power Up Patch...I'm pretty sure I saw it in SWM Central *checks*

Yeah, it'd be possible.
And as Ghetto stated, Hammers hurt Mario. But I'm quite sure someone will make an ASM hack which allows Mario to throw fully functional Hammers without getting hurt. *Cough* BMF or Glyph Phoenix *Cough* |

Wow, I got mentioned alongside BMF. I've always thought of myself as one of those angry pundits on the outskirts of Super Mario Town while BMF is the mayor.
I should work on making a throwable hammer sprite for Mario. 'course, I end up not doing the vast majority of things I should, so... |

Originally posted by Glyph Phoenix Well, you've made your ASM hack which makes Mario Throw the Fireballs up first. Combining that and the offset change we'd have a Mario Throwing Hammers! Which would, of course hurt Mario . But yeah, I think you're as good as BMF. Glyph Artifacts = Hooo dandy! |

Glyph's nowhere near as good as BMF.
He is, however, a lot more active than anyone else with a decent knowledge of ASM. |

... at ASM, anyway. I don't mean any offence to him, and I really appreciate all the help he's given me in the past, but I honestly don't see why everybody went so crazy over SMO.

Originally posted by peter_ac And I honestly don't see why everybody went so crazy about your ripoffs. Seriously though, SMO received appreciation because it was one of the few hacks released that were good in nearly all aspects one could think of... assembly modifications en masse, awesome graphics and level design. Back on topic... I wonder how hard it would be to (ab-)use the bubbles code to make small gameplay-irrelevant effects like sprites releasing puffs of smoke. I really should get back into SMW hacking. |

right, well thanks for the code.
now, what should I do to disable this? I mean, should I change it to a value that is unused to disable it? Thanks for the help |

My advice is to change 0x7F27 to 00. If it doesn't work, try EA. |
