Could you elaborate? Because it took me two days to find out I had to disable the box under the IP.

Does it stop at "Connecting to server..." or does it freeze for several seconds and say it can't be found?

Not everyone's router likes port forwarding (mine doesn't), or perhaps they don't know how to enable it.

When I tried connecting through TCP, it locked up for a while and then said can't be found. Under UDP, stopped at Connecting to server.

I've enabled it already, and I've had no problems playing with Sonic after doing so, and I know mom didn't tamper with the settings since I checked after my attempts to play against Grey.

Well, I'm fairly decent, I think.

I out played Sonicandtails with a x5-x7. He won one round, like, everytime. We played for like, 30 minutes to an hour.

I came back.

Also, Kamek77 handed my ass over and managed to get a x8 in a laggy game. I've never been so explodingly bad since I was two. (Special thanks to him for port forwarding.)

I'm always looking for more players.

Ok. After playing with Riku, I figured something out.

He had ZSNES 1.42, and we used it at first, but when you play with that version online, the audio FREAKS out...
So, we switched to 1.36. Now, what happened was, when we did UDP, it would freeze and say Could not Connect. If we did TCP/IP, it would not connect at all.

So we switched back to 1.42 and played with sound disabled. This is odd, because 1.36 works fine with Thexare.

My best bet for you Grey, is to play with 1.42 and you both disable sound. I bet it will work if you try 1.42, I'm almost positive.

Im going to look into Zsnes forums or something and see if maybe 1.42 dosn't need the port forwarded(Riku did not have the port forwarded at the time), and 1.36 does. Maybe thats the issue?

EDIT: OH SNAP!The tables have turned! SB5 is winning!

When I have some time in between, I also will drop in.

Be sure to disconnect anything what is using the internet apart from ZSNES, at least recommended over wide distances or bigger pings.
I live in Germany, although a 2000 kbps down- and 192 kbps upstream should really suffice for ZSNES, I usually get horrible lags when playing with someome far away (like Hiryuu and Waddler-D). And I'm not sitting behing a router, I just have Kerio running which is configured perfectly. I even would disable it, since my system is up-to-date anyway.

Meh, seeing how close both are I think we could as well make two tournaments (Like I said severeal times by now). People who really want to play TA would be disapointed if we only started a Bomberman tournament.

Never had much problems with lag here, worst problem I had was whne I was playing against someone who was on Wi-Fi, and this guy lived 30 KM away from me. XD

Ergh, this is why I say that real men use 1.42. Damnatorium.

I agree with Ailure's idea; Regardless of who wins this (since it's gone back and forth at least four times now), the other side is going to be disappointed if there's only one tournament. Two tournaments would allow everyone to choose, and considering at least 32 people have voted for each game, the brackets could allow a four-round tournament, possibly five if the people who voted have the time or the resources to play.

Maybe we could have it as a rule that you're allowed to participate in both tournaments, on that note. However, you'd have to have a delayed registration time in your secondary tournament, to allow people who aren't yet in a tournament to play.

Riku and I played again tonight, but I don't trust the scores past me winning 16 to his 7, because we played for about 15 minutes with a completely desynched game. His side had me losing everytime my side had me winning, and by the end, his side had me still playing after I had hit ESC to go back to the chat window.

Maybe you could try upping the latency, and also make sure that you have the port on your router (if you have one) open, or you will drop packets and desync.

From what I see, the emulator sends off button inputs to each player back and forth, this has to be relativley quick to make it work. Now, if you are useing a router, the router will allow some packets to drip in, but others will be looked at first and will desync you. This is why it is important to open the port.

Lets get these tourneys started already!!!

Latency was set to 3, and I had port 7845 forwarded for ZSNES and allowed the router to expose all ports to the internet (probably unnecessary, but I did it to make sure that I could connect). What probably killed it is the fact that a UDP connection wouldn't work for me; I had to settle for TCP/IP.

Uh. A TCP/IP connection is actually a lot more stable than a UDP connection. However, with low bandwidths, it's often nowhere near as fast.

This seems pretty dead. I'm happy that you guys liked the twice-done suggestions of Bomberman 5 and Tetris Attack, but at the same time I would wonder if you guys would benefit more from just making a forum dedicated to this. Really, it doesn't need to be that heavy on the activity, but I would bet you anything that once it was made, it would actually get some interest...particularly in the dead of summer where most people are going to have the time.

Just food for thought...if nothing else, you could just use it for people to organize their tournaments for numerous things, not just stuff you could play in ZSNES.

I'll agree to an online internet games forum, but only if it isn't just about tournaments. It should be about playing games online together in general, from competitive to cooperative. Admit it: It'd be great to play TMNT Arcade or Sunset Riders online with four players. You know, just for fun.

No, we used to have an online gaming forum, remember? It got merged into General Gaming for lack of activity. This would be a low-activity forum that was SPECIFICALLY for tournaments. Assuming, of course, it's even makeable.

I wanted a forum for tournaments when setz first suggested making a poll. He didn't seem to agree.

But yeah, I'm all for a tournament forum. Obviously.
