Considering I hope to write the stuff somewhere down the road, its safe to say that me and video game music get along nicely Koji Kondo, Nobuo Uematsu, Motoi Sakuraba, Junichi Masauda and Go Ichinose are just a few of the people I truly admire in that area.

no, video game music is generic/bland/crappy background music made for being in video games. listening to them outside that seems fairly pointless since there's so much better music out there, instrumental music too if song isn't your thing.

The only time I do listen to that kinda stuff is when it's stuff of this one Video Game Remix site. Pretty good stuff. Dhsu's Rainbow Snowland is a beautiful piece. Rainbow Raod and Frappe Snowland in one piano solo. Really nice.

It's quite rare, when I do not listen to game music. The only real sound I can listen too constantly. And my library should last for a month or something. Dedicated formats are a dream come true (and quite confient for easy listening on computers).

But do to my purchase of a Shuffle last spring, I tend to download more OST-CDs or mp3 rips.

Yeah, all the time. I have a combination of MIDI files and SPC700 dumps on my computer, although only like 30 songs total or something. I used to have hundreds of MIDIs, but they all got erased

max for the win. At least with the Katamari Damacy series, it's capable of standing alone, and the Advantage goes with medleys in several cases to stop it from getting repetitive, never mind that they imbue a certain... como se dice, musicality to their songs.

Game music and Jpop ftw. Specifically, anything by Koji Kondo or Do As Infinity. F-Zero X probably has the best music of any game I've ever played.

My music folders:
Roughly 5000 files
~60% SNES music
~25% PS1/2 music
~10% MP3ed music from other games
Remaining 5%: Various internet fad stuff, some Anime music, miscellaneous stuff people sent me over time

Yeah, I am an extreme VG music enthusiast. xD

Heh, listening to VG music is one of my favourite computer hobbies.

The music I listen to is mostly actual music from the games (in all sorts of formats from minigsf to gyms to spcs to mp3s), and the games I like listening to the music of, in no particular order are:

Sonic series (mainly the Genesis titles sans Sonic Spinball, but I also like listening to stuff from the Advance series for GBA, Sonic Adventure 2 (Battle) and Sonic Heroes)
Super Mario series (sometimes I like listening to GBA music from the Super Mario Advance series, but I really like the music of the various Mario Kart games, obviously including the original)
Kirby series (here, I'm mainly talking about Kirby and the Amazing Mirror, Kirby Super Star and Kirby's Dreamland 3, I love the music in these three games)
Zelda series (another favourite, I mainly like the music from OoT, MM and WW, but listening to older stuff from time to time is nice as well)

When remixed, some game music can actually be pretty good.

Then again, most of the game music I listen to is music from games like Gitaroo Man and Beatmania. SRW music too.

Most of the other stuff on my playlist though, is either random crap my friends send me, or electronica. and dream theater. That's because Dream Theater is fucking amazing. Same could be said for dragonforce.

I dunno....remixes just don't cut it for me. If the song is good, it's a must-listen-to-the-original feeling for me. (P.S. Euclid from ToP wins the Internet) The only remix I've ever liked was some SMK Rainbow Road remix I heard one time...it sounded cool (P.S. Fighting Spirit from ToP wins the Internet too)

In case you didn't notice, Tales of Phantasia also has some of my favorite VG music.
