So... I was editing some levels today (I didn't touch the overworld AT ALL), and I hit F4 to test them out, when suddenly I noticed my overworld had mostly vanished. I mean, I don't see how it could have happened, I was only playing with a castle level, and I had been testing it over and over again and the OW was fine.

But now it's completely butchered, the only parts left are the ones that are on Mario Paths. Is this a glitch, a bug, or did I hit a button that kills the OW or what? And is there some sort of way to 'restore' it back to normal?

I'm pretty much bummed out now.

How come it shows new paths instead of the older ones?

Ahh, it was the overworld that has been in my hack for quite a while, I have some screenshots of it somewhere... I usually never touch it, because I think it's good as it is.

The only time I really tamper with it anymore is when I need to change level numbers on the level tiles.

Looks like you may have accidentally saved something else in the space it was in... Since a lot of it's blank, but there are spots here and there with the old stuff in it (mostly around the edges).

Can't really suggest much to help besides just taking the screenshots and what you still have and trying to piece it back together. Sorry, man.

I was afraid that that was the only solution... I guess this is why most people back up their work. Oh well, I always liked editing levels a lot more.

And... why didn't you back up your ROM?

I never figured I would need to, the last time I backed it up was way before I had any progress at all... At least I learned a lesson, hopefully = \

I'm almost done with my hack and i basically never done an OW and never will. Just move your levels to a brand new ROM and use the regular OW the game already has. You can always edit the level numbers and such but you don't HAVE to do tiles

meh, I would really like to know why some people alway say one of the following:
'I can't make OW'
'I can't make/rip ExGFX'
'I can't do ASM'

for me, it pure lazyness. after all, why bother learning ASM, experiment with it and finally reprogram part of the game with it, when you can simply make a thread to ask someone to 'plz do that for me!!!!111'
