Sorry I don't remember who but I know someone was working on a level editor for SMRPG or some kind of editor for SMRPG. I haven't seen any news from that person yet and wondering if they are still working on it.

Umm, i have no idea what a "Board Hack" is, but i dont forsee a release anytime soon. My best estimate is like 4 months after the release of DP. Perhaps like Summertime 06. I am however very happy that people are showing interest in it. Keep in touch.

Last I heard.

That looks like a pretty nice GUI... definitely good to have the progress made, even if it doesn't have any in-action shots yet.

Heres an image of what it will look like while editing a rom.

This is not actually editing a rom. Just a mock up of what its going to look like. Thanks to Giangurgola for this.

Sorry for the huge images, but it was necessary to get a good feeling for what it really looks like.

I'm just curious for now.

Is graphics editing going to be possible with this? I'm curious because I'd like to change it up and give it a new theme instead of being the 100th person to make a SMRPG map/event/story edit. I'd rather try to make my own style for the game... even with SMRPG music.

Anyway, the GUI looks interesting, but then again, I'll have to see it in action before being swayed into thinking "WOOHOO! SMRPG EDITOR!" So whenever you can, update for us, please.

IF thats what the editor will be like... I think the pokemon hacking from will die and make way for a mario rpg forum

Besides that what are some of the features in the editor besides editing the map?

We would only be so lucky.

I'm liking what I see here. A palette editor, map creator, tile viewer, object placement, hell, an event editor... this is gonna be the founding utility for any future Mario RPG hacking community. And any graphics editing can be done in TLP, while text can be done in hex. The game is gonna be fully editable.

Well I knew there was a SMRPG Editor, I was just wondering on how far is was in development.

Anyway I got a question about the program. Will it have some kind of sprite editing feature included? Like when you click the name of a sprite it will show the tiles, color palette used for it, the location in the rom, etc...if not then I'll just use TLP.

*Edit* Fixed XP, stupid me.

Argh. You people fail at quote tags.

Anyhow, the editor looks awesome. Even moreso to see how it would work... Of course, this depends on the editor actually winding up working like that. Can't wait to see it in action.

Cool, but that interface is FREAKING HUGE ZOMG. Move things like the tile editor, palette editor, map header etc to their own windows that can be opened and closed as desired. Your current interface wouldn't even fit on the screen at 1024x768.

Simple demonstration: Using editors with resizable editing windows and tools in their own windows (shown here), at 1280x1024, I can fit the following all on the screen with little overlap:
  • Lunar Magic Level Editor window
  • Lunar Magic Add Objects window
  • Lunar Magic Add Sprites window
  • Lunar Magic 8x8 Tile Editor window
  • Lunar Magic Palette Editor window
  • Lunar Magic Background Editor window
  • Lunar Magic 16x16 Tile Editor window
  • Lunar Magic Overworld Editor window
  • Hack-O-Matic Map Editor window
  • Hack-O-Matic Tile Selector window
  • Hack-O-Matic Tile Arranger window (10x6 tiles)
  • Hack-O-Matic Map Properties window

(Yes, that's the new Hack-O-Matic, it's not ready yet. )

Now let's compare to editors with a large, fixed-size interface like yours, here. (I just pasted your screenshot in. ) In the same screen I can fit:
  • Renegade64 Code Disassembler window
  • Renegade64 Code Assembler window
  • Renegade64 Main window
  • Your editor

Quite a difference there. Crazy as it may seem, my screen tends to look like the first screenshot when I'm ROM hacking. (Except I generally don't have SMW and Pokémon editors open at the same time. ) I hate when it ends up like the second.

And now the mandatory list of things that should be obvious for those who didn't read the post or the big red text in the second image:
  • I am not making an SMW hack that involves Pokémon or a Pokémon hack that involves SMW. Opening both editors at once was just a demonstration. (Neither has enough dialogs to fill the screen themselves that can all be opened at once.)
  • That overworld is nowhere NEAR complete.
  • Neither is HOM's interface.
  • I don't have an SMRPG editor. I just pasted his screenshot into mine.
  • Renegade64, at least the version I have, can't open both of those windows at the same time; I just pasted a screenshot of one into the other.

I doubt it, as from that screenshot it doesn't look as though anything is editable.
