Umm... I think you have to beat the castle in world 5 while mini to get to World 7, not the one in 6. Same as the one in world 2, really.

Your right...i finally got the chance to play again and beat the last castle in world 5 as mini mario and presto...i'm playing world 7 now...

It would have been cool if there was a way to make a Star Road type map appear like SMW has

Anyone into score-farming for this game? I'd like to get 99M points, just for the heck of it, and I've made two methods that have worked best for me.

1. Do the 1-up trick on the koopa on the stairs at the end of 2-4, except jump off after you get 8000 points, then angle it just right and get another 8000 set.

PROS:

* Extremely fast
* No need to gather a valuable power-up
* Not too repetitive, if you like seeing numbers go up fast

CONS:

* Easy to mess up (jumping on the shell at the wrong angle will cause it to ricochet back into your face)
* Game timer forces you to go through a short section of the level again

2. Clear 8-8 over and over again, making sure to pick up the star for the 8000 point gain, and grabbing the flagpole at x66 or x55 time.

PROS:

* Easier than method 1, but still tricky to dodge meteors

CONS:

* Needs a blue shell for maximum point gain, and if you're hit, it's impractical to not restart the level.
* Still tricky, but not so much as method 1
* Very repetitive and boring.

Method 1 is far better at amassing score quickly, IF you don't mess up. For an example, I did method 1 for about 40-50 minutes and amassed 1 million points in that time, and I was messing up fairly constantly, sometimes not even getting one 8000-set.

Method 2 allows for more room of error, but it's not as fast as method 1, as I've stated already.

Has actually succeeded in getting 99M yet? And if you have, did you use one of these methods or something completely different?

Haven't gotten the game yet. I have some monies but said monies are in the bank waiting to clear.

I'm trying to block out all talk of the game. Heighten my anticipation.

Points trick...

well if you beat every level it will get to the point where you can go into the mushroom house over and over again...you could keep going back in and get 1000 points for hitting the power up...it would be kinda boring after a while though....

i'd have to double check but i'm sure there are certain levels with tons of coins...i know that i have finished level 1-1 a lot of times and can storm through it pretty quickly and get a ton of points that way. Fastest way to get through level 1-1 is to be turtle mario and just storm through it.....when you finish the level you can add up your points pretty quickly

darn...not sure what happened but i lost my save state and have to start all over again....oh well..

I got this game on Saturday. Beat it today, Star Coins and all.

It's an awesome game, but it's way too easy.

The bosses can be smashed in one hit while you're Mega Mario. Even the fireballs are overpowered, requiring only a few of them to defeat the boss.

Every two or three screens there is a powerup, and there's always one at the midpoint, making it horribly easy to stockpile reserve Fire Flowers even if you die.

And I had some insane luck in the 1-up houses, always getting at least nine lives from it. I finished World 8 with a full stock of 99 lives.

The game was really fun, but next time, please up the difficulty a little bit

I dunno, some of the secret exits were tricky to find. If you weren't aware there was one, you'd possibly NEVER find it. (I'm looking at the W3 ghost house here...)

And dragging Mini Mario down tiny pipes to find isolated coins was tricky. But now that I'm used to it, I've cleared all of the towers and castles as Mini Mario. Bowser Jr. and the Monty Mole Tank can actually be pretty tough as Mini Mario.

I also found it funny how, in the final battle...

Spoiler:
As mini Mario, you can stomp on Bowser Jr., do a wall kick off the high wall, and fly over both Bowser and his son and dump them both in the pit at once. Too bad Mini Mario grows to regular Mario after you push the switch though.

I really like this game. I have no real complaints about it.

Really? I'd like to try that sometime.

I just went Mega on their arse. Boom. Problem solved

Also, the W3 ghost house's exit wasn't THAT hard to find... You just have to know where to look

But I'd say the most aggravating level was 7-5, the Bullert Bill field. Having to find the secret exit just to advance was not good. It took me forever to place the two Bob-Ombs correctly without them blowing up in my face

Actually, I just went Mega there myself That powerup kicks major rear end.

It is kind of hilarious to totally dominate the final battle with a mega shroom. Beating it with a mini-mushroom is total humiliation though

it is way easier to use a mega mushroom to break the block

You can finish a level with...

Spoiler:
x77, x88, or x99 time, where X is anything, and a Mega Mushroom house will appear on the start tile. You should clear whatever house is there before you do that though.

Not likely it matters much to you now, but it might help on future playthroughs.

You know, I keep spawning those things, and I never actually use them... I've had a Mega Mushroom in my inventory for a WHILE now, but I still play through the levels as regular forms. Especially shell and mini. Those are fun.

Yeah... when I tried that level, the Bullet Bills would kill the Bob-omb in my hand as I took it to the blocks.

Heh... one of the most irritating sequences in the game for me was the moving platforms in Castle 6. They were obviously made to take advantage of people's impatience, and dump them into the lava, because I lost at least 10 lives to that level

I had a problem with that with the dynamic block-paths in the... second last level I think? Just too impatient

I find that Mega Mushroom almost totally useless to me, i've used it a total of probably 2 or 3 times in the game..besides I like being good ol' classic regular sized Mario

Well, I officially have 3 stars on my file now. I rarely used Mega Mushrooms unless they were a gift from a Hammer Bro or Wing Block. I did, however, use one on Bowser Jr. several times and on the World 8 boss.

Edit: Also, has anyone been to the Mini-Mario rooms? (The ones that aren't required?) The tiny Goombas are so funny.

Same here. I also used it when you find it in a regular ? block like in 1-1 and in boss battles as a last resort.

I only have 2 stars though. I just need to get all the star coins in World 8 because I missed a lot of them during my first run. I was rushing through World 8 so that I could fight Bowser and Bowser Jr.

I find the micro-shroom much more fun.

You guys should try to defeat the Monty Mole Tank as micro-mario. It's easy to not get hit, but it's rather hard to attack back.
