It's been a while since I've made a thread on ANYTHING...so I guess I might as well state that, over the past three months, this game has taken up a large LARGE majority of my free time (whatever is left nowadays). It's probably one of the better puzzle-based games that I've played in quite some time and addictive to boot.

The basic run-around is that you need to take pieces, collect them (similar colors only) and throw them together in threes, at least, up-and-down of the same color for it to create an explosion. Any adjacent similarly colored objects will explode as well. You can also rensa (or chain) off of this as well. In a sense, it plays very much like a cross between Tetris Attack and Puyo Puyo, which is probably one of the main reasons I like it so much.

I'll state that it'd be a heck of a ride if it was ever tournied in via MAME. There's a lot of potential in this game and I won't take all day explaining things but...

[digs]

At least SOMEONE beat those scores. Seriously, I think this would be a good fad...er...game to play.

I mean look...

Don't they look cute?

Annnyways...I'll be back in a week. Hopefully this'll take off like Twinkle Star did...

Well, given how the game was made for the arcade, this is pretty much the definitive version.

This is definitely one of the "easy to learn, hard as fsck to master" games.

The third one pretty much put the other two to shame. The big thing that they were lacking was the ability to move the column down. Add in the fact that they have 20 playable characters (adding the secret ones) that all have their own garbage dropset and you have something to start off a good concept.

I suppose you COULD take some time explaining what system it is for and how the less law abiding citizens may acquire a sample. (Ok, first one is enough).

My variant of it, yes, but there were numerous consoles that it was on. GameFAQs would tell you that.

Haven't played it in a while, but first time... 1200 points.

Yeah, I'm rusty. Too much combo potential.

Just got done playing it for about 30 minutes. At first, I thought I was going to come back here and say this...

"The game really has no skill at all. It is almost impossible to set up combos, and they are just random, and the computer is eather stupid or smart with a 50% chance."

Then I played into it deeper and got near the end of the story mode, and by the Golem Boss, I knew exactly how to setup 5 Line combos and kick major ass in a matter of seconds!

This game really does need skill to get combos, and it dosn't take as much practice as you think. I'd like to play this against someone to see how good I really am (Preferably not Millenia, as long as you dont make fun of me ), and I would love to be in a tournament for it.

Oh, there IS strategy but the game's so fast-paced that you need to be quick with your mind. It's not like TA where you have a small window of opportunity to plan stuff out or scan the playfield.

By the by, guys, use the Japan MVS 3 BIOS when you play this. You can set it by right clicking on the game in MAME, Properties, and finding the BIOS tab and setting it as such.

I don't know why it is, but the game is that much better under Japan BIOS. You have MUCH FREAKING BETTER VOICE ACTING, for starters. You have an Adventure Mode that DOESN'T suck and has 4 players going, not 1. You have a HARD mode in Story Mode that takes some major skill to beat (even at LEVEL-1!) and you have a kyu/dan rating system in the first mode that, I think, is a lot better. Better than hearing that I'm 'GOOD!' or something...

So 10-kyu-1-kyu / 1-dan-10-dan / titles.

Last I tried in that mode under the BIOS, I was a 2-dan at best...I think in Magical Drop II I was a 3-dan. There are a lot higher dans and a few titles as well. Your ability to get them would have to mean that you're a god of this game. I've done a 19-combo in the easiest mode, which really isn't hard to do once you get the system down, and the other modes I can usually pull upwards of at least a 10 in one game.

In game in Story Mode, I think the best chain I've ever pulled is a 13. The problem is that after you hit '8 LINES' for garbage on the opposite person's screen, it really doesn't matter how high your combo is. 8 LINES is the maximum. What I find is that if you do a large amount of 2- and 3-chains one right after the other, you'll get that much more garbage sent over than you would shooting 8 LINES all the time. It pays to have speed in that mode.

Adventure mode is a royal pain. I think the best I've done in that mode is about 500,000 with High Priestess and I got 17 steps in from the beginning before dying. That 17th step I cannot seem to pass for the life of me.
