MAJOR EDIT!!!:
It seems that in my time crunch to finish, I made a HUGE mistake. When I made the movie intro, I put the Vanilla Dome world at world 1, so I could play and record it easier. In my time crunch, I forgot to change it back. The download link is updated and the patch fixed. Also, yesterday I got grounded from EVERYTHING (computer, PS2, music, etc..) which means I can't continue my hack until I get un-grounded

*NEW DOWNLOAD LINK*:

Well, here it is. The last few worlds I designed were designed in a time crunch. Not only did I have to finish it last night, but my parents kept yelling at me to get off the computer so they could use it

Anyways... I obviously changed the name from Super Mario's Quest to Super Mario's Journey. Hope you enjoy it and more will come and will hopefully be a lot better!

ENJOY!!

EDIT: Added screenshots! (I forgot to when I posted here first.)

It could use a LOT of work. And why is the first level a level from SMW???

First of all, what level are you talking about that is the same from the original SMW (the level name).

Secondly, could your critisism be more specific; instead of just 'it could use a LOT of work!'

Well the first level speaks for itself. It's the exact same as a level in Vanilla Dome.

Anyway, the new GFX are pretty good. But Mario with a blue outline? The Waterfall doesn't move Mario down, the koopa chain in the second level is broken. And yeah, 2 levels with a (badly designed) switch palace? Wasn't much of a demo. The only highlight is the new GFX.

I find your ideas somewhat interesting but like Pac-Man said... it could use some work.

I like what you have so far, especially the island background. Just one thing that really bothers me, why is Mario walking in mid-air on the island screen?

Uh, I think you screwed up a bit here. The first level is called STAR ROAD as opposed to Toad's Island 1, and is taken from the original SMW, while the switch palace throws you into the room of glitchy death as you enter the first pipe.

Try testing your demos before you post them.

Also, Toad's Island 2 requires a cape to complete. And even if it wasn't broken, that mile-long Koopa chain was a bad idea.

1. The question about STAR ROAD level/Vanilla Dome 3 level is answered in my MAJOR EDIT at the beginning.

2. In the beach level, he's walking on land because I suck at making land.

3. I've never had any problems WHEN I TESTED IT at the switch palace pipe. It always worked with me. I used snes9x, the latest windows version.

4. You get yoshi. You don't need the cape at all to cross the piranna plants.

It glitched twice on me when I tried the game yesterday. Today, when I first entered the pipe, I ended up in the roulette room. I tried again, and this time I ended up in the actual switch room. Look into that pipe.

Ah, yeah, indeed you do. Then, may I ask, what is the POINT of that koopa chain when you can just walk over the plants?

Also:
Tropic Secret 1 has some walls that look like waterfalls blocking the way. Again, test your hack before releasing it.

And shouldn't Tropic Secret 2 have a secondary exit? It's overworld icon is a red coin, and there IS a path leading to the Star Road on the overworld, there's just no way to trigger it.

It might just be me, but when you're soliciting other peoples' opinions on your demo, it might be a good idea to look into their bug reports instead of insisting that it works fine -- otherwise, what's the point of having someone else test it?

Apparently you end up in the roulette room if you're riding Yoshi when entering the pipe. No idea how I ended up in the room of glitchy death (screen goes black for a few seconds, then Mario appears in a screen of glitchy graphics and instantly dies), but it needs fixing.

"Thunder ripped open the soft cool Earth. Rain pounced without mercy."
WTF

Cutting your images up like that also makes them look ugly. Why is there water in the sky in your tropical island level, with the islands in it upside-down?

About the pipe, it only glitched up on me once in Zsnes. I usually am not riding yoshi, though. Must have something to do with the fact that it's a vertical level. The glitchy room thing never happened. About the upside down islands, how the hell did you get that? Seriously, what emulator were you using, where exactly in the level did you see it, etc. details, details, I want to fix it and make it un-glitched.

Any suggestions or other bugs found, just post it and I'll try to fix it and extensively test it (in Snes9x, though; for bugs) or put it in the game (for suggestions). This release isn't perfect because it's my first, I was in a time crunch to release it when I said I would, and I'm still learning/practicing. My next demo won't be out for a while (I'll AT LEAST have 2 whole new main overworlds (I mean overworlds like Yoshi's Island, Donut Plains, ya know, sections) if not more and I'll play it like Donkey Kong Country: beating it 4+ times

Anyways, I hope you generally liked it (bugs/problems/and all other shit aside.)

Look for another demo in maybe a month or so.

ANY SUGGESTIONS/OTHER BUGS FOUND;
POST HERE:
