I love the fact that, despite the log being active (Which should be a big red flag), and the "don't click the blow up the board link" message, AND the counter next to it, 62 people couldn't resist the impulse to do so.

In unrelated news, I remain convinced that St.Anger could've been a really good album if only someone had told Lars "The Kindergartener" Ulrich to put away the aluminum trash cans and steel chairs and take out his drum kit to record it. Instead....well, I still like it better than the Loads.

Couldn't help sharing this PM:

MogGuy
I am a moron who can't resist clicking any link I see!
Banned until some admin pities me enough to unban me!

I was banned for some reason from the Super Metroid Redesign thread in Rom Hacking, and I was wondering if you could tell me why, since your an administrator. Thanks!

I'm considering responding with "It's a SECRET. That would blow my cover."

I got stupid PMs like that too. One person saying they don't know why they're banned, and another saying that they clicked the link knowing it would ban them, and now they want to be unbanned.

Firstly, wtf.

Second, do I look like an admin?

I'm waiting for the abusive PM where you read what the person has to say to you (despite this not being your idea) and then don't feel like unbanning him/her.

Kyouji, that has to be one of the best PM's ever.

Sadly, also one of the stupidest.

Ah, yes, the Force wasnīt strong with them. They havenīt learned to use it with their full potential and thus were lost to the dark side.

But I knew what they were up to and could prevent myself from clicking it.

I don't know why people click when it says banme in the taskbar.

Who clicks a random mysterious link without looking in the taskbar?

I donīt exactly look in the taskbar when checking links. I right-click on the links and checks the properties.

Iīve always done that.

...Kay, no real difference. The focus of the post was why people click random links without looking at what they are first.

Microsoft designed their software to make people constantly click things. Often, one could find out new and important things by double-clicking everything, as it was made so that a wrong click wouldn't kill your computer.

For that reason, idiots, slaves, and curious people have clicked the beam of death, some of whom may have been skeptical of its function until it banned them.

They probably think the link's a joke (which it is) and have no idea what happens when they click it (which is REALLY dumb).

I'm sure a small number of them would feel great pleasure by actually deleting the board, but it's not going to happen.

But I think most of the people clicked it wondering what it would really do.
Bad idea.

I'm a bit amazed this random banning is increasing board posts per day, rather then sharply decreasing it. You'd think about 5 users with banned colors would scare off new users

Then again, a lot of it is jeers at people who fell for it / did it on purpose / whine about being banned.

Walking around the internet for two minutes is enough to give proof as to why you shouldn't click everything.

I'd say more like 3-4 minutes since the odds that you'll come across some "CLICK ME" ads aren't that solid.
