I'm attempting to learn some windows programming. As a porject to get me started, I decided to make a utility like MWR. It is very similar, but should be safer. It won't overwrite any data that doesn't belong to the sprite. Let me know if anyone has any confirmed information about unknown bits or ASM pointers for sprites above D9.

Try it out here

Interesting!
You can change palettes which means, I can use my gigantic beetle sprite on the monty mole.

At first I thought it was a joke.

Good job on this. Hopefully, this will prove to be a more effective sprite editor than MWR. That thing usually caused bugs galore with my hack.

That looks rather cool.. .And it actually has a decent number of the unknown bits defined. That's always nice.

You can even change their speed even though it isn't available on all sprites. At least it can disable the fireball and cape killing separately.

Nice work!

Well, it works. Nice and simple to use too. This is a good program, which eliminates the need to wade through ASM and whatnot. I hope you make more like it.

This program is quite useful, and a lot more user-friendly than MWR. The finished product should be awesome!

yes, he is, I'm happy to be the first one to notice it, it was obvious if you look at sprite tweaker URL:
http://home.comcast.net/~dkaminski/tweaker.zip
now compare with the scrolling pipe URL
http://home.comcast.net/~dkaminski/pipes/pipes.html

and finally, this post is the final proof

Hey everyone,

Yes, this is mikeyk now going by a new name. I've been gone quite awhile, but have had some free time lately. I do have a quick update to the program. More previously unknown things are defined now. Get the new version here... Tweaker 1.1

I was hoping to make some more significant changes, but I've been having a little trouble. I need to do some more learning about dialogs before adding anything major, but hopefully I keep interest in this project and turn it into a more powerful editor.

Graphic Byte 2 from Mario World Reconfigurator doesn't seem to be in Tweaker.

For those who don't know, Graphic Byte 2 determines how far along the table, the list of frames (and the tiles they use) starts. I always find this byte useful for changing the tilemap of a sprite that has just one frame, and I can avoid modifying the actual table and potentially corrupting the tilemap of other sprites.

But DMiner, I assume you're going to put this in the Change Tilemap Dialogue, right?

I was indeed planning on putting Graphic Byte 2 in the tilemap dialog, as it is only used for sprites <= 0x53

I've read these forums for a while, and I'm happy that my first post will be a contribution and not a stupid question. Unknown Bit 9 makes an enemy invulnerable to damage from mario sliding down a slope. Found it accidently when playing with reflecting fireballs in a room with slopes. Tested it with other several other sprites.

Jesus this looks good. Am going to download it the moment I get home. From what people have seen from it, are there ANY problems that may destroy my rom??

I haven't seen anything that will destroy a ROM. Just don't mess with the ones that are unused.

It's an excellent program, no problems at all!

It's much better than Mario World Reconfigurator.

Possibly my fave part is being able to change the pallette, as you can't do this directly with LM.

Thanks for making such a cool program!
