I'm looking for dinner ideas, so I'm wondering what you guys have been eating lately. When I plan meals lately, I seem to keep winding up in a continuous loop of the same kind of stuff, over and over.

So, I thought I'd ask you guys what you've been cooking and eating lately. And if it's something that you cooked yourself, a little bit of information about how you did so, so that I can try it if it sounds like something I'll like.

Yesterday, I had spaghetti bolognese.

My recipe for it's never the same each time (at least as far as quantities go... it's usually the same stuff), and it's probably not "traditional" bolognese, but it's simple enough and it works for me.

I cook some chopped up onions and garlic in a big frypan with a little bit of olive oil, then brown some mince. Then when the mince is brown, I add some chopped, skinless tomatoes, some tomato paste, basil, oregano, thyme, some finely grated carrot and smoosh it all together so it's all mixed through. I usually add a bunch of cracked black pepper too.

I also add a whole bunch of red wine, then I let it simmer till the carrot more or less disappears and such (not long), and all the flavors have gotten through the dish. Oh and somewhere in there I cook pasta too. And then I put the sauce on the pasta and put fresh parmesan on top

Tonight I'm trying to make chinese style chicken and sweetcorn soup, and a chinese style bean curd and mushroom stirfry. I've never made either before so I'm worried I'll mess up, but I think it should be good.

What have you guys had lately? Tell us about it

I had meatloaf, zucchini in butter and carrots. I also ate a plate of broccoli and peppers. I drank 3/4 litre of water. I ate an orange, two bananas and an apple for desert. For my late night snack I ate three table spoons of peanut butter.

As for you, do you have any skill with making fish dishes? They're great to serve with a good red wine and since you're an Aussie you have no shortage.

I eat dinner during break at work, so it normally something like a boneless pork rib (shaped patty) frozen dinner. Very high class.

I realize that's no help, so instead I'll give a recipe for something my Grandma used make (well, probably still does). Its called "chili killies", I managed to find one recipe on the internet, but its only somewhat like my Grandma's. Basically you simmer broken up corn tortillas shells in tomato sause (with chili seasoning if you like) and cottage cheese (the cottage cheese part might sound nasty, but it's really not), and serve it over white rice, and top it with shreaded cheese. I don't know the exact proportions, but figure on enough tomato sause to completely cover the tortillas and about a 1/4 cup of cottage cheese per serving. Besided other variations, the recipe on the internet called for ground beef, my Grandparents are vegetarians, so it obviously wasn't in their version, but if you're one of those people who must have meat in every meal, it could probably be added.

My mom used to make "red beans and rice". That was pretty good. I can only remember two ingredients though.

Grilled (barbecued) codfish, with vegetables (carrots and etc.), and tiny garlic baguettes. The pieces of cod were wrapped in tinfoil, along with the vegetables, and put on the grill. Also, remember to add margarine (or whatever you use), or it'll get burned.

Today I'm going to eat tacos.

Usually, I end up having hamburgers or hotdogs. Failing that, some form of meat, a grain (IE: potato/rice) and some vegetables. Sometimes, I have pizza or tacos. Sometimes even fast food. However, it should be known that my tongue and nose are very prejudiced and intolerant. In other words, I might want to try something (IE: tomatoes), but they "disagree" with me. Simply put, if I try to eat them (or in some cases just smell them), it makes me feel as though I am going to vomit.

Someone's Liver with a nice Chianti and Some Fava Beans...

Actually, just coffee and a cup of spicy ramen soup. I used to have regular dinners when I was younger, but as my schedule got more hectic, so did my eating habits. The thought of eating a full dinner only brings to mind me being at someone elses house as a guest and having dinner, or a resturaunt.

Last night, I had tacos and not because it was Cinco de Mayo yesterday but I usually eat tacos for dinner almost everyday along with other leftovers.

Broiled chicken strips, spinach and four-cheese tortellini and corn on the cob. Iced french vanilla protein shake for dessert. I heart my blender!

As always, a few slices of pastrami for my snack.

I had cold-water lobster tail with a crab tempura. Very delicious and I know some very good tempura recepies (plus I've been trying to cook with shelfish more lately...), so if you're looking for one just let me know
