???: "I'd be more worried about you harming an innocent, with that kind of attitude."

At the reins of one of the caravan's carriages was a young-looking man with a large duffel bag sitting at his side. He stared down at Star. How rude, not even introducing himself to a band of warriors who might someday save his skin. He climbed off of the carriage, and just stared at Star, waiting for his next command. If that no-good excuse for a fighter wanted to pretend that his employees were dumb, far be it for me to correct him, the man thought. He crossed his arms and stood at the ready.

"So, what'll it be? You're clearly the smart one here..."

Sky: I have engaged in archery before. I was surprisingly good at it, for my first time. I'd do it again as a hobby if it weren't illegal for me to operate weapons like that without a license here in RI.

Interesting fact: Apparently technology in crossbows is progressing to make them almost as deadly as guns nowadays...

Mouse: Being a werewolf would be very nice, save for the hair part. I'd at least get to go out during the day, and if you've read any of the World of Darkness lore, they're incredibly awesome (called Garou, not Lycans). Alternatively, we have talked about dhampirs...

Danielle: I have been ice skating several times before. I'm not any better at it than I am at rollerblading/skating, but that's not to say I'm bad at that, either... It's just that all of the times I went, I went with company that was less than enthusiastic about the act of skating without assistance.

Man....

If Vyper has a myspace...

And Vyper's girlfriend has a myspace...

And he totally posted this on the internet...

And myspace is totally visible to the public...

I wonder what would happen if his girlfriend knew he said something like that about her.

Garro: "They're close."

Kalar: "Part of your little plan? You just got back from Crystal Psipalace..."

Garro: "If we're going to go through with this whole "revival" plan, then I need to know more about Psi Warrior faith. That bonehead Schwa is always looking to randomly spar with people, it's like he wants to shove Ether down the throats of every unsuspecting warrior he comes across."

Kalar: "You know, he might not take that as an insult..."

Another case of the troublesome duo "just happening" to be in the right place at the right time showed Kalar and Garro watching the entire exchange from high above Schwa and Allaura, sitting upon the boughs of a pair of tall trees.

Garro: "I'm beginning to learn, yes..."

Kalar: "They're in trouble. Time to be stylish?"

Garro: "Do what you want..."

Kalar: "Awesome."

Holding his scythe behind his back, Kalar braced his feet on his tree-branch seat and sprang outward, falling head-first towards the walkway that Schwa and Allaura stood cornered on. Garro sighed and followed suit, drawing his guns as he adjusted his trajectory to that of an opposing angle to Kalar's.

The two warriors landed, a prime example of
deus ex machina, between Allaura and her group of foes, and Schwa and his. With Kalar next to Allaura and Garro next to Schwa, the two of them stared down their angry foes with a cool eye and an even cooler drawn-weapons pose.

Kalar: "Are you sure you want to take another step forward?"

Garro: "You don't seem to know who you're dealing with..."

Their flashy one-liners out of the way, the two groups of warriors responded angrily, and amidst shouts of "He destroyed our tavern!" and "We didn't ask for our town to be randomly terrorized!", Kalar and Garro just sweatdropped and stepped things up a notch.

Garro flared with holy light, his coat billowing out beneath him as his pistols shone with a silver glint. Even the scraggle of facial hair that lined his chin and cheeks seemed a little bit glossier than usual, as the white winds that surrounded him blew a cool breeze aroudn the four warriors, strengthening their resolve and making them seem all the more resolute to take care of any trouble that was about to happen.

Kalar's approach, on the other hand, was significantly more terrifying, as the shadows from Garro's holy light swirled on the floor of the platform around him, casting the silhouette of a dark, undefinable figure beneath his feet. Its eyes glowed a deep yellow color, like headlights that shone, and yet did not shine at all. He waved his scythe, and it glinted as it passed the eyes of each and every warrior, showing that its blade was so thin, so fine, that it was like there was no blade at all. Indeed, it seemed largely two-dimensional in nature, and yet the skill with which he swung gave way to the allusion of a grandoise being, one who took his every battle seriously, regardless of the weapons or tools he had at hand. To him, the battle was work, be it work of labor or work of art.

Needless to say, at this display the warriors were significantly awed. They grinned and continued to look totally awesome.

Janus: "Are you so sure about that...? Do you have any idea what I intend to do with this power? Don't be so naive, you blind bitch. You can "see" no better than I can shed a tear for anyone in this room's pain."

He reached forward, and snatched the Emerald from Shen's hand, his eyes growing wide as he grinned at its magnificent beauty and power... But his joy soon turned to a scowl, as he realized what a binding he had created in his greed. His face turned to Shen's, and he eyed her dangerously as the Emerald glowed for several seconds, turned a blazing white color, and disappeared, its power integrated into Janus' being.

"But, for the Emerald, he lives. For now."

Janus stomped his foot, and the barrier around he and Shen was shattered instantly, with Janus' power amplified once more by the presence of a third Chaos Emerald... The wave of energy blew quickly and shortly out from him, and the light of the barrier was shattered to pieces as Janus backed away from Shen. Despite his feelings of anger and rage, there was something deep inside him that still survived, suggesting that yes, he could trust this woman, even though she was his enemy. If only he left that man alive, that is...

Janus backed a few more steps away from Shen, and looked at Star out of the corner of his eye. Star...

Star, of all people, he had not expected to stand against him. The shifting rivalries that all of the parties involved had experienced in the past, the friendships and hardships that they had overcome together suggested that there might be a possibility that Star, whom Janus had confided in so long ago, would ally with him and taste the sweetly supreme power that he sought.

Alas, that was not to be. Janus knew that the moment Star touched his sword. That was what it always meant.

This time, though... This time, Star was outmatched and both he and Janus knew it.

"And you, Star... How dare you assume you know such a thing..."

Janus placed his hands on Satchel's handle, and held it outward, ready and willing to kill.

"I look like Janus, don't I? Don't I feel like Janus? When I came close, so damn close to killing Schwa just now, didn't you think it was me? Don't I hold this hammer without difficulty? Is there any other man in the world who can do so?"

His expression changed again from scowl to grin, and the purple light surrounded him, intensified by the newer of his three Emeralds.

"Do you have the courage to face the truth? That yes, I AM the Janus you once knew and befriended?"

Crystal Psipalace was in flames... It would not be long at all, now, until the destruction inside the castle caused its outside to begin to fail. Evan slowly got to his feet as Janus boasted, and looked to Shen. She was all right, miraculously! He staggered towards her, knowing that if he was right, this was but a short interlude in Janus' rampaging hate. And who was it that had showed up at this moment to save them...?

Was that Star? Had they met before...? Evan's thoughts were very brief before the Chaos Energy around them all became too much for him to bear, and consciousness left him.

---------------

Kalar: "She's late."

Garro: "I expect she met with some resistance, if she even took our mission at all..."

The two of them waited in the old apartment that Janus had lived in before his disappearance... It was littered with books of magical study, mounds of video games and consoles, and a refridgerator full of various juices and wines from a wide variety of worlds. Presumably, Janus had drank from them all.

Probably all at the same time, at some point.

This was the apartment that Janus had lived in. Despite his fabulous wealth from the hundreds of thousands of years he had spent adventuring, Janus intentionally chose this spot as a chance to live a normal life once again. The apartment was worthless, dingy, run-down, and centered in the slums of the city that they had lived in, but for some reason, the man was happy here. Janus had mentioned many times that he was a fan of the life that the people in this part of the city had led... working hard every day to eke out a living amongst the worst the world had to offer. He had admired their courage and perseverence, and sought to live among them. Of course, with refusal to touch his wealth also came the difficulty of having a day job and paying bills. In order to keep a healthy balance between his work and his daily requirement of kicking ass and taking names, Janus had decided to get a roommate.

Some time ago, Janus had rented out the apartment to a rather peculiar man that the three of them had developed a potent dislike for. He was a powerful psychic, and as a result knew exactly how to get all three of them pissed off for no reason. Because of this, he was eventually forced out of Janus' life, and had gone to live on an isolated island that, as he put it in a recent letter (unread, by the look of the dusty envelope still on Janus' kitchen table), floated in the skies above the planet.

In any case, Janus kicked him out, went back to his day job, and reserved his nights for going out and looking for people in danger. This particular fact played a very significant role in allowing him to meet someone very special to him, and the direct result of such an endeavor actually caused his employers, a grocery store down the street from his apartment, to presume him dead after he had not come into work for several months, which leads us to the present day.

But enough backstory.

Kalar and Garro waited in silence for their employee to finish her job. They had another proposal for her, and had told her to meet them here when she finished her current target off.

If she could, that is.

???: "Star, eh..."

The man watched the dragon fly over them, and calmly jumped down from the reins of his carriage, grabbing his bag and shouldering it.

"Yeah, I've heard of you. I'm Janus. Just Janus. No "greatest swordsman on this continent" or anything fancy like that. I don't slay dragons, either."

He stood his bag upright and sat on it, like a stool. No need to panic.

"But hey, I'm not the greatest swordsman on this continent, now am I?"

I like the inspirational side of the name. Nintendo really IS trying to start a revolution here. They're taking back gaming from Sony and Microsoft, and they're doing it while keeping things clean. You really think Nintendo's gonna go down the dark path? You can NOT say that this console isn't going to make an impact on the industry.

Apple Juice.
Tetris Attack.

SKYDUDE IS CORRECT.

Anyway, sorry for being away for so long. I have been (still am, actually) caught up in the final tidbits of schoolwork that have been plaguing me. But fortunately, your fearless leader is back for another run.

Now, then... It looks like we have some pertinent ones here.

Thoughtless: I find myself most often staring at an open instance of Eclipse. I go for hours and hours sitting and contemplating my next programming move, wondering where that one single line of code will go to make the application PERFECTION DEFINED!

....Frankly, I'm surprised I haven't turned into a troll yet.

Sky: Well, you are right. You haven't been active in the SF lately. As for the girl, seriously: Back off and try to get to know her better. Don't press at all. You're clearly out of your league here, so you need to regroup and either try again at a more opportune time, or let things settle for a while before resuming the offensive. Love is a battlefield. Don't get hurt.

Phil: We've had this discussion before. It's not about trying. Don't try. Heck, HOT BLOODED PASSION AND FURY OF THE RAGING STORMWIND is enough to get people to come to you.

IY: The stragest thing I've ever seen... Man, I can't think of anything right now other than the fake-dub of the pilot to Bo-bobo Bo-bobobo.

DS: Girl-- No, not even girls, people in general like to hug, that's the way it goes, I think... A lot of the girls here at my school most definitely like hugging people. I see girls hug other girls all the time, as well as most of the "cool" type fellows that rank in the vast majority of the populace around here. But that said, if people really don't seem to hug all that often, you may have something here. I think the best idea would probably be to just hang out with her and, you know, see if she does it again, or exclusively to you. You never know...

And with the release of Nintendo's new name, I officially have no comment on the issue.

Y'ALL AIN'T ME! Y'ALL AIN'T ME FO' SHO'!!!! CAN'T STEP TA THIS CROCK 'O MAD TYPO SKILLZ, YO!

And with that, I correct my mistake.

As for this week's round of questioning...

You can bet I ain't makin' a single pee-joke. The Wii is a good thing, methinks. That's my official comment for the time being.

As for as Zox torrents go, it's all right, Dani. They're actually a band largely local to the northeast. You wouldn't be able to find torrents of their earlier albums, since there's a good chance they've been independently produced.

A Vengenace is like a vengeance, but it's not quite as strong. In fact, it's more like a comical version of vegeance, in which the person who says vengenace realizes that he's supposed to have a vengeance, and at that point the grudge upon which the vengeance is based is soothed somewhat.

I don't hate you Dani.

Kalar regrouped with Janus, Grey, and Garro... But not before saluting to the crowd, and busting out a few mad dance moves.

Of course, his plan to regroup with the three of them was disrupted by the fact that Grey, of the three, was mysteriously missing.

Janus: "Kalar! Where've you been? And what was that explosion just now?"

Kalar: "What do you think? I ran into a few of our little friends. Where's Grey?"

Garro: "He went off to search for survivors, just like you did. We haven't seen him in a few minutes, but he went to the ticket offices for the Indigo Stadium. Said that that was the most likely place to find a few people hiding out. But if that stadium is under attack, then it's likely to collapse, if that explosion just now was any indication of the power that these Shadow Pokemon can exhibit."

Kalar put a hand in the air, rather matter-of-factly.

Kalar: "Ah, actually... that was me."

Janus and Garro raised an eyebrow at him.

Janus: "Survivors, huh?"

---------------

Grey walked into the ticket offices, a psychic shield around him, and his fingertips tingling and ready to rain burning rage down upon any shadows that threatened him. He looked to his left, to his right, and straight forward, hoping beyond all hope that nothing was trying to surprise him.

There's a few quick flashes of light and scratches of air, and the warriors in front of Kalar are instantly knocked unconscious, with little hope of getting up any tie within the next few hours. Similarly, Garro dazzles his crowd with a bright blast of light, and every single one of the plotful peons are afflicted with a sleep status, sinking to their knees and falling forward.

Kalar: "Aw, not a single death. I guess they were stronger than we thought, eh?"

Garro: "It's your bloodlust, not mine. I suggest we wait until the two of them are done..."

Kalar's eyes flashed red as he watched his foes conduct their techniques, and Garro scribbled a few notes into a small pocket notebook upon staring out into the sky for a few seconds, watching the ether flare up from Allaura's rain. He nodded to Kalar, and they waited.

"Young Prince, I believe you mentioned a score to settle?"

Evan's eyes flitted open for a few seconds, as he muttered something only Shen could hear. His head dropped back down, and he rested for a few seconds before forcing himself to his feet. He wasn't done fighting yet...

Star was, as was par for the course with these psychotically one-sided story battles, completely outmatched by Janus, who glowed purple for an instant as he flashed in and out of existence and out of the way of Star's blade. He reappeared behind Star, gripping his shoulder tightly, and raising his hammer above his head...

Janus: "I don't know why I'm condescending enough to deal with you today, Star...

He swung his hammer at Star from behind, and disappeared a second time, reappearing to his left and swinging again. There was another flash, and Janus ended with a golf-shot to Star's midsection, aimed at sending him flying. Janus leapt back from his list of blows to Star, and glowed brightly with Chaos Energy, the blaze more intense than before by far... Three Chaos Emeralds, and the hate and rage that accompanied his dismay at Star for truly betraying him in what he perceived as his hour of need.

"...But if your choice is to try to kill me, then you must not know how alive I feel right now!"

Evan's eyes snapped open, as he sensed EXACTLY what Janus was trying to do. Star? That was Star for sure! That blade, that sword style, and the fact that Janus had called him by that name was more than enough evidence. He rose to attention, and directed as much energy as he could at warning Star!

Evan: "Star, NO! He's going to--"

Janus: "You shut up, interloper!"

Janus pointed at Evan, blowing a wave of Chaos Energy at him that knocked the hulking man backward, but not down. Evan silenced himself, and turned to Shen.

Evan: "Shen, we've... we've got to get out of here now. I've seen this before..."

---------------

Garro: "That's fine, that's fine, Miss Nijote. We're really just glad that you were good enough to meet with us under these conditions. However, your convulsive friend here was not part of the agreement. You know what we're dealing with, here. Dispose of him, or deal with him however you might."

Garro waved a hand at Kuroi, and he became encased in a Stop spell for the next few seconds. That should hold him, Garro thought.

Kalar: "Really, we want to discuss your next mission. There's a lot of money and power in it for you if you succeed. It's tough, but we have faith in you."

Garro: "Yes..."

Kalar got up and walked to the window of Janus' living room, lifting the shade to the rising sun, and folding his hands behind his back.

Kalar: "For your next mission..."

He turned around, and the light in the room clashed with the sunlight to cast a shadow around his body, eclipsing the sunlight from the view of all others in the room.

"...We want you to deactivate Dracoon. Permanently, if possible."

Koneko: Relax. For every negative five year old kid posting in an adults only forum, there's a million 13-year-olds looking up porn on google.

DS: This is MY advice thread. ------>

IY: Well, I've never played a Silent Hill game, so I'd probably attempt a disbelief check and hope for a 20.

Sky: I believe that personal truths and morals are more important than societal values, and have believed that since I was six. That said, it's kinda weird to see grown men running down the street in their underwear, but more power to 'em!

Thoughtless: I'm thinking we get some food in the middle of the day. But it'd be something simple and fun, like chinese food or a stylish cafe in the urb limits. There'd be hip and sophisticated music in the background, and we'd walk the streets for a while without a care in the world. Talking, connecting, really establishing a bond amongst the rest of the world. At some point, I'd trip. For sure. And we'd be going uphill for a good portion of the date. Maybe we'd end up at a theatre, or a museum. Maybe we'd go hiking. I don't know, but it's got to represent exploration and openness. That's the best environment, in my opinion.

Ziff: Run. Run away, and never return.

The barrel of one of Garro's guns presses into Schwa's forehead, as he raises his hand and catches Schwa's fist. The ether on Schwa's hands burns Garro's glove to a dull grey char, but little more. It's clear that Garro can stand against a lot more than generic ether.

Garro: "Prince Schwa, don't ever..."

He pulls the hammer back on his pistol, and it begins to glow brightly, the mechanism inside of it setting off a reaction in the gun's stock that filled it with Holy power.

"...call me a demon again."

He twists Schwa's arm downward, and pulls the pistol away from Schwa's face, backing off a few steps as he does. The twist is hardly excessive, but it's clear that he has no intention whatsoever of letting Schwa just hit him. Even Garro's stubbly beard seemed to bristle at Schwa's challenge, moreso at his allegation.

"If you have a score with me, then you might as well settle it now. Tell me, what's your problem with what I do?"
