Unrelated to "current" WWE per se, but as you can see from the thread title, John "Earthquake" Tenta has passed away from cancer.

R.I.P. big man. In related news, fuck cancer of all kinds (And I think I'm more qualified than arguably anyone here to say this).

Rooting for: I don't know if you'd call it "rooting for them" per se, but my philosophy as it pertains to World Cup is "When in doubt, pick Brazil". So there you go.

General thoughts: Watching it in Spanish is, quite honestly, more interesting to me than watching it in English. Not because I understand Spanish per se--I don't--but because this being soccer, which I don't watch very often, ANY commentary may as well be in a foreign language, and with Spanish, I at least get the pleasure of hearing "GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL!" (Or "GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL, GOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOAL!", or today's "GOOOOOOOOAL, GOOOOOOOOAL, GOOOOOOOOAL, GOOOOOOOOAL, GOOOOOOOOAL, GOOOOOOOOAL, GOOOOOOOOAL, GOOOOOOOOAL, GOOOOOOOOAL, GOOOOOOOOAL, GOOOOOOOOAL, GOOOOOOOOAL!") whenever someone scores. That invariably brightens my day.

As others at the Wrestlecrap board have already mentioned, if you really thought this "New ECW" was going to be anything like the old ECW, you had another thing coming. Apparently it did relatively strong ratings too (A 2.7 or something like that, which is damn good for, you know, a WRESTLING show on the SCI-FI Network), meaning we can fully expect to see future episodes crafted in its mold.

Unrelated, I'm still upset that the mighty Earthquake is dead.

Ooh, interesting. I had heard about the Spike Dudley tearing the contract up thing, but figured (like most) that it was nothing more than TNA doing their best to show that they're not WWE by....bringing up their competition at every available opportunity. Fascinating that the contract was apparently real.

So I went to my friendly neighborhood comic book store and picked up The Batman Chronicles Volume One today. For those who don't know, it's a collection of the very earliest Batman appearances in Detective Comics, as well as Batman #1 in, presumably, its entirely.

Jesus Christ....forget "Superman is a dick." Golden Age Batman was THE comic book asshole. When he wasn't hurtling people off of rooftops to their doom, he was punching them into acid tanks (And calling it "a fitting ending for [their] kind"), snapping their necks with a well-placed kick, or hanging them off what was then called the Batgyro (!!).

Awesome stuff.
