Is there an acctual point to monochrome mode? It doesn't seem all that useful to me.

Yeah man sorry about that layout, I seriously forgot I had put that there before I posted. I'm still trying to extinguish the flames but I'm still getting some PMs from Metal Knuckles trying to get some reaction out of me. Much love for everyone.

My God, it's not the layout I was reacting to. *slaps head in exasperation*

Either way, you acknowledged your behavior, and I'm all good with that right now. That was the only "reaction" I was aiming for, so don't worry about any more PM's. And being from Mass, I do believe that being a Dickhead is on my birth certificate somewhere.

Boh, monochrome mode is good for the retro feel. If you could play Frogger with the blocky frog or Frogger with the 3d-animated frog, and presuming that both ran with the exact same engine, which would you go for? I garuntee that at least half of the community would go for blocky, all for the nostalgia. This might not be the same case, but it's more or less similar. And while some blocky Frogger fans wouldn't go for it, I still bet a percentage of the community would.

Edit: Quotes fixed.

Yeah, I'm sure that now, monochrome is good for a retro feel, but I was more spaking about why the NES would have such a feature in the first place. When the console was made, wouldnt't the idea be to push boundrys and be more hightech, not make a feature in the system that allows you to be less high tech?

I have no idea how feasable this would be, since I really have no clue what I'm talking about, but what about this:

Have three cartidges for your two games, one that has a connector on the top like the Game Genie. The cart with the connector on top would have the SRAM that both the other carts load from. Add some extra pins on the connectors for the SRAM, make sure both games use the same file format or write to the appropeate areas in the file for the other game and make the SRAM cart pass all the rest through to the console.

When you want to change games, save, power down and switch the top cart.

Again, I'm not really uptodate on rom hacking or electonics, but this works in my mind.

But that makes sense...

Of course, having it as a seperate cart means you could potentally add other games to the collection.
