Second one is better. It does indeed seem more barren... but the TWO FG objects cause a bit of a clash... maybe remove one of 'em, or make them brown?

S.N.N., have you ever tried to put your own custom scenery to YI? It would be fun to see the Yoshis in places other than the ones given to you.

Another idea is to have a level where you morph through all different types of vehicles. That kind of level should be made if you can create nearly the entire level in one screen area. The level should have one basic rule: design the level in such a way where if you approach a morph bubble, you will have to use it to proceed, and after touching it and transforming, you cannot go back to the previous area (i.e. if you are Helicopter Yoshi and find a train bubble, the Yoshi can still backtrack but cannot continue until he morphs into a train, but once he is Train Yoshi, he cannot backtrack to the area where he was a helicopter).

Did you get all that? I hope so.

I'll go with B then, since that is what everyone likes

@Tanookirby: New scenery? Nah, I'm not an artist, my scenery would be pretty bad. However, I DID add one new tileset, which you'll find on the final release...but that's about it. I did add a lot of ExGFX and changed quite of a few of the existing graphics, but nothing that will make you go OMG MONA LISA!!1!1

As for your level...I had planned on making something like that in a bonus level, sorta like Go! Go! Morhping from the GBA version...I'm not doing the extra levels til the end of the hack though, but I will definitely take what you said into consideration

WHOA THAT'S A FAST MOTHERFUCKER

I'm so visual.

Stealth is also a cool guy for implementing this nifty feature.

I don't really play Sonic Games.... what exactly is this "new feature"? Is it something like automatically seeking out and killing the closest enemy?

That's what it looks like to me. It looks pretty cool, actually; I notice how your rings decrease when you do it, and I'm assuming you have to push a certain button while in the air to initiate it? Regardless, it's nice to see some quality Genesis hacking.

Neat, but isn't that just vanilla SSB with a gameshark code on? I read about that code, but I can't remember it...

I do have to wonder why most superawesomelyfuckingcool sonic hacks are for sonic 1, and not some of the later ones?

Much unlike SMW hacks, Sonic hacks seem to be about quality rather than quantity.

There are actually a lot of Sonic 2 hacks, as well, as both Sonic 1 and Sonic 2 have very nice disassemblies, both in a state that are mostly user-friendly for editing, and both have the most information for editing them either complete or near-complete to some extent.

One reason Sonic 2 may not be shown as much in hacking, here anyway, is that as there is so much more within it, the ability to add stuff becomes a lot more limited, especially graphical-wise. I think somewhere within this thread I have Sonic 2 hack screenshots, too.. I forget where. :x

Sonic 3 and above don't have much information about them, hacking-wise, and nowhere near complete disassemblies (I think there's a Sonic & Knuckles one floating around, but I don't think it's complete). It makes it a little more difficult to hack. :P However, people seem to love taking ideas from them, and attempt to put them into the older games, and as the game engines are essentially just built on top of eachother as they go along (Sonic 2 is Sonic 1+, Sonic 3 is Sonic 2+ etc).

So.. yeah. Wow, a long post by me. :.

This is that one hack you mentioned about the "nega-rings" right?

If so, looks sexy. <3

It's to bad Project Chaos is never gonna grace these boards. I'd fear everyone would be stunned into post silence (play on words!) after seeing some of that Sonic hacking.

But yeah, it's good to see some progress, Hapi. And it' nice to see that Tweaker's improved (with Stealth's help) the homing attack to a degree.
