It took a weekend due to a combination of me forgetting where the graphics pointers were and my own laziness.

As for the doors... I know they suck. And SM style doors have been an option for quite a while. However, a lack of graphics is my main problem at the moment. You said you found 16 unused tiles in Brinstar alone right? Well. I already used them.
I already used most of the graphics available. Thats how I got all those pretty graphics all over the place (most of it went into Tourian)
Trying to give each area it's own new theme instead of recycled graphics has cost me.

There are alot of unused black tiles... *gets ideas

My Motivation to do this was simply to see what METGEN would look like with the original graphics. I don't plan to release that.


Someone posted pictures of his modified Metroid graphics. Might be this one, I don't know... But anyway. I think the doors were not as detailed as the Super Metroid ones - but since there are only vertical doors in Metroid 1, couldn't the door graphics be checked (and updated with a new tile if necessary) every 8 lines? Maybe with DMA transfers to the video RAM.

I'm sure there'd be many problems, but I just wanted to put that one up for discussion. Btw. maybe someone finds the thread I remember... the search didn't help much.

Yes, SNN, your screenshots are really good, but maybe your Welcome level seems a little bit too difficult. I died like 5 times before I found out how to get past the ! switch in it. The idea was interesting though,but maybe you shouldn't make it to where they have to hit a flower 3 times that early like on a steep hill b/c that's hard to get past. 3-1 seems too hard b/c it's skiing in a castle,but I'll play more of it later.

Well for about half a year now I've nearly finished changing all the overworld graphics in my Zelda 3 hack. All thats left are random seperate sets around Hyrule. As for now I just want to see what you think of my progress thus far. I just want to know what you think of how it looks or how my graphics changing has been going.

On a side note this is the original Hyrule Castle with my new Graphics placed in. Also the image is fairly large being that it is the entire Hyrule Castle section you could be in, in the original game. Also I know the trees next to the cliff by the water are unfinished. Thats becase they're not going to be used in my hack so I felt no need to finish them.

It looks pretty good, Megaman-Omega. Except for the tall grass. For some reason, I've always hated that style of tall grass. It seems to be unnaturally sticking out of the ground. The horrible colors it has doesn't help, either. The oddness with the top and bottom edges of it in some places is also annoying, but I trust that would be fixed in the hack. At any rate, I still don't like that grass. Everything else looks excellent though, especially the brick.

Lespna01: Congratz at figuring out at to graphics edit, that's usually what throws people off A couple icon graphic issues I noticed, are 1-1 (picture is fine, palette is buggy) ...I find 1-4 nice for some reason, it's an evil looking Milde ... I don't like 1-6 all that much - 1-7 looks nice too, but as you said, the palette is also buggy. You said you don't know how to fix them? Neither did I, at first. Unfortunately, the only way to fix them is to find the palette they use in game, and redraw the colours onto it the best you can. I know it sounds hard - it is at first, but once you get the hang of things, it isn't too bad

(Oh, by the way, when making icons, you shouldn't copy sprites from the game onto them. Their palettes get really buggy, and unless you are very good at working with 16 colours, you best just use the icons from other levels.)

Everything looks pixely to me, but that's not neccesarily a bad thing. But I myself don't like the castle roof's blocks. Maybe if you made the repeating tiles flat, it'd look better IMO.
