JJ, that looks beautiful.

I can't wait to see the finished products of all 3, but especially the third.

I have a problem with a ExGFX from the workshop. The ExGFX is Ocean BG. I use it for my airship but when I insert the bg, the color of my airship (Fg) change to blue like the bg and when I come to change color of my fg, that also change the color of the background. Please tell me how to arrange that.

You'll need to copy over the palettes from the FG into an unused level, then when you've imported the OceanBG palette, overwrite the FG palette with your custom palette.

I tried to do what you tell me but when I overwrite the ocean bg pallette, the bg also become brown like the wood of my airship. I know that happening because the bg use the same pallette as the fg so I want to know how to change used pallette. If it possible.

Ah, I see what the problem is. In the Map16 editor, change the Doomship tiles' palette to 2. Then import the background. Make sure that pallete two is the color of the ship.

So I've been lurking around these boards off and on for a few months now, and now decided I had a question to ask. I've actually been messing around with Lunar Magic for several years now, slowly going through phases of interest, becoming frustrated, quitting, and returning again.

Anyway I followed each step to the 'T' and where I get stopped cold in my tracks is when I click the yellow mushroom.

First I'll explain what I did. I downloaded the SML2 FG ExGFX from the Workshop, I unpacked it, renamed the -named-.bin to ExGFX81.bin and placed it in a folder called ExGFX. I opened my hack and clicked the yellow mushroom button. I recieved a little pop up error thingamajig that said "No ExGFX found in /ExGraphics" which created a window called "ExGraphics" I assumed I have the more recent version of LM so I moved my .bin to the newly created folder. I reopened LM and my hack, pressed the yellow mushroom and *drum roll* got the same message.

A little perplexed I closed LM again and reopened it and my hack--but when I opened my hack I got all kinds of messages saying that all my files were missing the level opened but it was a blank backgroun with a few sprites here and there, i cycled through the levels and the same sort of errors popped up letting me know there were no graphics. Then I cycled back through again and all my graphics were garbled junk.

Luckily I backed up my hack before attempting all this so I didn't destroy anything.

For the record it is precisely this trouble of inserting ExGFX to the rom that always seems to frustrate me enough to put it away for a few months. I don't get mad, just annoyed enough to say, "This bores me"...at any rate I'm certain there has to be an answer.

Yeah I'm wordy, but I figured I should make it as clear as possible.

Any help would be much appreciated.

1. What folder is your hack in?
2. What folder is your ExGraphics folder in?
3. Is your ExGraphics folder named 'ExGraphics'?
4. Have you extracted/reinserted the original graphics?
5. Have you used a tile editor to make sure the ExGFX file you downloaded isn't corrupted?

Could you perhaps post a patch or perhaps a screenshot of the 8x8 editor with the garbled graphics in Lunar Magic? Anything you can give us to better help you is appreciated.

I have no idea what I did wrong the first time, but just a few minutes ago I tried it again and it worked like a charm...clearly I did something but but I have no idea what. Now to unleash my creativity upon the poor unsuspecting world...hah!

Thanks anyway guys!

That lego set brings back old memories. Actually it reminds me of this toy cabin thing I used to play with (Those cylinders made of wood, painted brown and green, you can stack them on top of eachother and make something). I like it!

I'll upload the complete version of this tileset about a month after I release COTMK 1.

So I've been praticing ExGFX work with some tiles made by pucifur27 on MFGG for use in fangames (NOT SMW hacks), and made the ultimate base set. One simple ExGFX file, over 3 pages of Map16. It can be used for many many levels, including:
-Plains
-Woods
-Pipe Maze
-Ice World
-Ice Castle
etc etc.

This will be a set of firsts. This is the first ExGFX set in over a year from the man that founded the Workshop, the first I used slopes, the first I used custom tiles (No rips!), and the first set to need more than one page of Map16 data. Wooo!
I'll package it up later tonight, when the lappy has cooled off.

Well, I must say that the tileset is a winner! A very big set with only one ExGFX file. Nice. I will be using that set in a new hack I make... I am sure of it...

Oh, and I didn't even see your pic, Sukasa... it didn't load up until just now... weird...
That looks like a good set too.

XD @ overkill part
This set is intended to be used for many different worlds. Hence the name "OMFG Base".
