OK, so I'm the one that this post's about. Grey, no offense but you tell it all wrong. I went in... I pick up Tomb Raider 2 and the sticker says $9.99. I bring it to the register and the guy looks at me, then at the game. He reaches into a drawer and pulls out a sticker that says "SPECIAL: $5" and he goes "oh look at that... there was a sale on this game." and i saved $4. which game me enough to by the GBA tomb raider game. Which i did. and i don't believe that he charged me the full amount for that either.
Sometimes its really great being a female gamer

Hey, i'm brand new here as of July 27 '04'. So, i'm not into givng out my name, but everyone calls me tex, so you guys can call me that. Or just CosmoGamerX. Whatever floats your boat i guess.
I really like anime (especially Cowboy Bebop), Musicals (Broadway or otherwise), Video games (I have a PSOne and a PS2, an N64 and an old school Atari) and the internet.
I'm a pretty good artist, or so people say, so expect to see me showcasing stuff in the art section. I do a lot of FF fanart and a whole lot of fantasy art that comes straight out of my head. Any suggestions as to good forums, movies, tv shows (*hint* animes), and ps games (or n64 but i've had yet to find someone who's really interested at all in most of n64's games) are welcome and i hope to post a lot. Thanks for listening to my long introduction!

Well, about the episode where Fry sleeps with his grandma, its called "Roswell that Ends Well" its really sad that i know that off the top of my head. My thing is this: does anyone notice that there are so many scenes that are strangely reminiscent of Back to The Future? I always thought that episode had quite a bit of inspiration from that movie. although i might just think that because back to the future is my favorite movie of all time.

Oh and the Zoidberg Jesus was in the 2nd Season's christmas episode. Bender gets arrested, being mistaken for the evil robot santa, and to save him from a cruel punishment, the planet express crew comes in, and they're all dressed as santa. one walks in and says "he's not santa clause, i am!" and a couple more do this, and zoidberg bursts in in a white robe, sandals and quite a bit of false hair and says "and i'm his friend... JESUS!"

Oh man, i have such issues with narrowing this down so here goes:

From FF7:
Cloud, Sephiroth and Aeris

FF8:
Irvine, Laguna, Squall, Quistis

FF9: Vivi

FF10: i really haven't played it enough yet to get a real feel for all the characters. but Wakka is voiced by the man who plays Bender in Futurama, so he's got that going for him :-)
and you gotta love the blitzball cinematic in the beginning where tidus is playing, not that that makes him a great character, that i'll have to find out for myself

i draw lots of stuff. i like fantasy mostly. i draw people but i'm not as good at realistic as i am at anime/cartoon styles. i draw videogame characters, whatever i feel like.

oh and the cosmo's from the fairly odd parents character not the seinfeld one :-D silly.

and grey does know me. i haven't determined yet whether its a good or a bad thing. and i've known him for a long time.

hm. livewire... isn't that.... MOUNTAIN DEW?

that's GREAT kirby. thats just what i think. but its not guys that seem to offend me its the girls that are my friends who, while i'm willing to try doing stuff that they enjoy, they still look at video games as the passtime of guys. and me.
all my friends that are worth being friends with still like me despite it, but i just dont enjoy the looks they give me when i say: maybe you want to try playing some playstation? its not all of them though, in fact i have one friend who's brother owns a playstation and from what i hear she plays it a little bit when he's not around. but then i have a friend on the other extreme... i mention something in a conversation that has to do the slightest bit with gaming and whatever i'm trying to say is buried in an avalanche of Sighs and "oh my god tex you're so obsessed"'s. is it too much to ask for her to try it before she knocks it? the best i've gotten is she played that stupid 3d pacman game they had for psone. but she doesn't like it when i mention that in public. with my female friends i sometimes feel like a leper. but thats ok, thats why i have so many guy friends...

Posted on 07-29-04 06:09 AM, in Tomb Raider... Good or Bad? Link

a friend and i were having a conversation about tomb raider chronicles after i lent it to him to try. it basically went like this:

-Tomb Raider Chronicles is a very bad game.
~in your opinion
- when I press jump I'm expecting it to jump. when I press shoot, I'm expecting the dogs to die
~i've never had any trouble with that... in all the years i've played the series. never.
-when I press sidestep, I'm expecting to step to the side
~You just can't work the controls. its most likely THAT simple
-but most of all, when I play a game in which guns are involved, I'm expecting to be able to move horizontally to the side while still facing forward. this process is known to the gaming populace as "strafing", in which the hero moves like that and is still able to aim forward. It's a brilliant evasive tactic, and you'd expect Ms. Croft to be able to do it
~she can. learn to play it before you completely condemn it.

So, i'm kind of ticked off. First off, i hate how just because this person refuses to admit TR is a good game, he tries as hard as he can to find something wrong with it immediately. Secondly, as with all gaming conversation the 2 of us seem to have, he takes on this condescending "i'm better than you in all things gaming" tone. he seems to speak to me as if he's better than me, when he isn't. when it comes down to it, we are most likely equals in the gaming arena, but our skills both lie in different games, as does our interest obviously. but i'm getting off topic. here is my question... is my friend's argument valid? or do you think he should give the game more of a chance before he makes these accusations... if you've played the series before, have you had any of the same problems or am i the only one who doesn't seem to think that the controls in TR Chronicles are all that difficult to work?

Ah, nick, thats the difference between you and my friend. you gave a valid reason why you DONT LIKE the game. you did not just rant about unfounded accusations and say "THE GAME IS REALLY BAD". i appreciate your input. idont appreciate my friend's gaming prejudice.

ji'm proud to be a girl gamer XD whether its a rarity or not. and i make it painfully obvious to most people lol. the guy at gamestop near where i work knows me by name. :-0
it has its good points and bad ones. apparently it comes with its own discounts ;-)
but of course, i have been swindled by that same eb games. just recently i got a used ps2 there... i got the wrong power cord with the package, the cord to the controller had holes in it... with bare wire sticking out... and it would not play a single dvd. so i returned it and the guy looks inside the system and points out that there was actual DIRT inside the console. not just dust. DIRT. he shook it out onto the counter to show me. i can't believe they tried to sell me that. i returned it immediately and got a full cash refund. which i took straight to gamestop and bought a used system that was in ten times better a condition.

I haven't met all of you in the forum, but so far i have not met an overwhelming amount of broadway musical buffs. Someone please prove me wrong!
Anyway, i've been a broadway fan for quite a while, so i've seen/heard a lot of musicals, but i wanted to know if anyone wanted to suggest others, its nice to get the opinion of others. and if you want to know a good musical, by all means, i know of a lot. I hope to uncloset some of you broadway fans!

it depends on what you like.

Wicked is the story of the wicked witch of the west before dorothy came into the picture. its a really funny chronicle of her life from when she was born to when she dies. idina menzel is awesome as the witch, and as glinda, the good witch, kristin chenoweth steals the show. i may just be saying that because she is my idol though XD. anyway, its really good, and its so much more modern and fun than the wizard of oz.

Set in the 1960's, Hair is the story of a guy who moves from some mid western state to NY to join the army. during his stay in NY he meets a group of hippies who teach him a lot about their way of life. really really really cool twist ending and awesome 60's music.

The Producers- really funny musical comedy about 2 guys who try to create the worst musical ever. lets just say that its called "springtime for hitler"... how's that for random?

Into the Woods is a great parody of all those fairy tale stereotypes. it shows you what really happens AFTER happily ever after. it has so many funny references to different fairy tales and its so amusing to hear these characters in a setting other than the perfect one they're in in the stories we hear when we're little.

Jesus Christ Superstar- all i can say is non preachy rocking jesus musical. it sounds dumb but believe me.... it is set to the coolest rock-style music you've heard in a musical.

here are a few of my other favorites. but these are the ones that are most likely considered "gay" as you put it: oklahoma!, the music man, my fair lady... stuff like that.
