I think FF4/2 got the hype it deserves. Its not better than FF6, for sure. its fun, and has a cool story.

I think themajor problem with it is that its damn hard. Too hard. Too often, i spent a couple hours just leveling up to beat the next dungeon, which isnt very fun.

Its a good game tho.

FF5 was fun, but only because of the job system. i thought the story was pretty weak but still entertaining. The characters werent very interesting tho.

FF8 had some cool things about it. but there was some really shitty things about it, too.

Combat pretty much FORCED you to use the GFs, wich dragged random encounters to unneccissary lenghts cuz of animation time.

Upgrading weapons was lame. End of point.

The Draw system was boring, too.

Leveling up did NOTHING except make you do more damage (wich didnt matter, cuz the higher level you were, the more HP the bad guy had..) and gave you more money to spend on the tons of nothings there are to buy.

The plot looked interesting. i didnt get very far in the game due to the severely flawed gameplay. Maybe if it was in book form, i would read the novel.

Well, to each their own. But the battle system itself in Tactics is pretty much the same as the system in Tactics Advance, except it doesn't have laws. And you need to play the game for more than ten minutes to get a feel for it. But hey, if you don't like it, you don't like it. Sorry.

no..FFTA was a really dumbed down version of FFT's engine. Theres alot of differences int he battle system than just the laws.

For one, EVERY skill takes place in one turn. Taht eliminates a huge portion of the strategy. in FFT, you had to think several rounds ahead just to make sure your magic would hit the enemy, and not yours. FFTA's combat engine was reduced to: Do what does the most damage in this one turn, but dont do wht the law forbids. Thats it. no strategy element at all.
Also, if your character was out for Three rounds in FFT, it was DEAD. THE END. that added a huge element to strategy, too. youc oudlnt let your levle8 summoner/level 8 wizzard die. in FFTA, too often, when a character died, i thougth "Fuck it, let em lie there, all my other chars do the same amount of damage despite their job classes".

The other thing is that the Races in FFTA restricted a lot of the customization of combining classes to make super characters. My Archer with Break skills was highly effective. So was my ninja thief. My white mage / time mage did awesome stuff, too.

Overall, the strategy took a hard hit, and that reflected directly on the combat system, and thats whats wrong with the game. FFT was a game based around strategic combat and missions. The amazing plot only added to it. FFTA lacked in both these departments.

And forgive me if I'm wrong, but did I not say that if you played it, and didn't like it, then I had no problem with that? You played it. You didn't like it. Alright, fine. I played it, and I did like it. We're obviously at a point/counterpoint situation here. I could go on all day about how much I like the game and you could go on for just as long about how much it sucks. Seems the only thing we're in agreement with here is that FFT was better. So why can't we leave it at that?

partly because you said somethign thats not true, and i refuted it. In this case, it was that the Combat is the same. And it isnt. Its like saying that an Etch-a-Sketch is the same as Phtoshop.

I think the graphics weren't bad for their time, the mixture of pre rendered backgrounds worked well.

I'd give more credit to the Aeris Theme if it was more than a Remix version of The Opera Theme from 6.

One Winged angel was rad, and i grooved to teh theme in Costa Del Sol. Other than that, i was pretty unimpressed.. Also i kinda dug the airship theme, but that also sounded like other FF songs ive heard..

Ditto.

It was cool when i found out about it and played the translated rom before anyone even knew about it. I'd tell people and they'd go "Huh?".

I even had a website dedicated to it. Got a ton of hits tho. after 2 years or so i had about 50K hits, which isnt bad for a game that so few people heard of at the time. There was even a petition on my site to port the game.
But once the PSX release came out, my site dried up and died.

Anyways, thanks t the wayback machine (www.archive.org) I can see my website again!

I dont know if you read the question right.

All i need to know is where the value for each dungeon room that chooses the BG2 type (Normal, Off, On Top, Transparent, etc), and then waht values equal normal, off, etc..

My quick thoughts were that the game was really boring because it had alot of down time, and alot of mindless running. Also i wish it was more based in the Final Fantasy world. For example, I'd rather be fighting rabbites, Bombs, Imps, orGrey Wolfs. The bunnies and sheep and worms and stuff were boring and had no real place in a FF game, i thought. I liked the character customization alot, tho. I just wasnt really that interested in playing through the boring part to make a rad character.

EDIT:

Okay, I've got a new question.

Its about the X-Scroll bug.

I read in Orimanchu's Faq the question you answered about it, but it doesnt make sense.

It says that the X Scroll values are stored starting at 14F45.

But i took a fresh rom that hasnt been edited and made a copy. I opened Rom 1 in HM, and changed Entrance 7 from room 241 to 242. Instantly, the X Scroll changed to 4294967040.

I opened both roms in Hackman, and did a compare. The closest change to 14F45 was at 14F23 and 14F24. I restored those values in the edited rom via hex, and htere was no change in HM, so i doubt that has anything to do with it.

Any ideas why im getting this?

I got it because a client wants me to make a website for him using it.

After screwing around with it for a while, I decided im sticking PHP/Notepad.

I cant stand the way .NET works for websites.

As for C++ and Basic.. I dont really see a difference. but im a shitty programmer.

Posted on 09-08-04 12:52 PM, in Im working on a game dev website and need some e Link
Im currently working on a website called www.develteam.com
After you register, you can start creating a profile taht is really a big Portfolio of your skills in 4 major catagories: Art, Programming, Audio, Design. Each of the major catagories has subcatagories (Such as 3d Modeling, Texture Artist, Sound effect tech, etc etc).
Also, you can start a Project on the site, and then browse otehr people's porfolios looking for people to join your development team for that project. You can start a project on a variety of consoles from PC to Xbox and GBA.

Now that I've explained the site's objective, I need some advice of some Do's and Dont Do's about the concept. My biggest concern is that creating a development team of people you know only on the internet can cause a ton of problems with communication, achieving deadlines, and other assorted hassles.

If you want, you can register and check it out (tho, ive only got the domain for another week or so, and im BROKE so i cant renew it :\). Keep in mind that about half the site isnt working, and the other half may have bugs in it.

I can skate sort of. I can Olly. Sometimes, I pull of a kick flip.
I learned how to do those things in about 2 weeks. not bad, i think. But since then, i got lazy and never picked up the board again.

For a while, inmy living room, people would practice allies and flips. I had a small 4 foot by 4 foot area where people would just hop up and down. just outside of the area was the couch, and a old style console TV that sat ont he floor.

At least 10 times a night, somone would shoot the board into someone's shins as they sat on the couch, or into the picture tube of the TV.

Damn, those were the days. :'(

Alot of people came over to my apartment in those days. And from my short time in skating, the best skaters were the poeple that i had no idea could skate. The people that LOOKED like skaters.. the ones that fit the stereotypical part.. they coudlnt do shit compared to the average joe's that stopped by and said "Oh neat, a board, mind if i play with it?".

But really, Since the title is "Skater Punk", i gotta mention the music.

THE SUICIDE MACHINES FUCKING KICK ASS.

I think the 'fear of clowns' is just anohter stupid fucking trend.

So is this whole trend with poeple and their SUPPOSED insanties.
Its so trendy to be crazy.
its annoying.

look at all the dumbfucks wearing shirts that say overused things like "Dont piss me off, im running out of places to hide the bodies" or "The voices in my head tell me what to do..."

ITS CRAP.

Theres this trend about being crazyy, and it includes being afraid of clowns.

In fact, there are VERY FEW people who have a TRUE case of clown-ophobia or whatever. People just sya it for attention.

Im sorry, but anytime i hear a new conspiracy theory about 9/11, i laugh at people's willingness to believe they're bieng lied to.

While we're at it, why is it that the popular majority says that george w bush is a complete moron who doesnt know how to tie his own shoes, yet they're the same people saying that he masterminded this internation conspiracy dealing with 9/11?
