It was a layout I used briefly on the old board. All of the images from then are gone, naturally, so I reconstructed it. Also, some things are obviously updated, like the strawberry engraving on the left instead of the flame graphic I used to have.

It's a mystery!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I have two accounts though. I should switch back to the older one.

Update: The issue is gradually being resolved!

What exactly does this do? I like a nice technical description before I start tweaking strange settings. =(

Oh yeah! That was another thing. The ability to disable auto-formatting (e.g. turning newlines into <br> tags) would be massively handy. For example, if you have a block of <pre> text, a newline becomes two newlines because it retains the break and puts in a <br> tag, so the only way to do properly preformatted text is to keep it all on one line and insert break tags yourself.

Even more useful than posts, this would be massively handy in layouts, since in the current form you have to collapse all html onto one line to make it work, and the source becomes unreadable. A "disable auto-formatting" checkbox would make things much easier.

Also, DarkSlaya: you can "disable" html yourself by typing &lt; instead of < and &gt; instead of >... but an option would be handy there too...

Yes. I was not asking "What is the result?" but wondering what the means were. Now I know. =o

In one of the most convincing technology demonstrations this reporter has witnessed, I was handed a CD, a wire-wool pan scourer and some permanent marker pens, and invited to scratch or mark the discs. Hard as I tried, I could not make a single mark on the disc with the scourer. And the ink simply wiped off.

The only person to have succeeded in damaging the disc had undertaken a determined attack with a Swiss army knife, according to TDK, the company that has developed the coating.

Wow. That sounds awesome. I don't know anything about the New Scientist, but this doesn't sound like bullshit, so I am peeing in my pants as I type this.

I've seen those in Gamestop. I don't think they were using any difficult-to-damage material, though... it was just an extra protective sleeve.

Perhaps some mod should correct the thread title where it says "scratch-attractive."

Posted on 11-02-04 03:47 PM, in Mario 128 Link
The topic has come up just a few times over a few years, but apparently something is going on. Oddly, the most information I could find came from IGN :
The latest issue of Japan's Nintendo Dream magazine is apparently home to good news for Mario fanatics who were a bit disappointed with Mario Sunshine. According to the magazine, Nintendo's upcoming Mario 128 title is being built around a new idea that's never before been seen in a game. Apparently, Nintendo refrained from putting the title on display at E3 in order to prevent it from being stolen.

Nintendo development grand daddy Shigeru Miyamoto has gone on record (with Japan's Playboy magazine, of all things) stating that Mario 128 will feature a freshness that was lacking from Mario Sunshine. We presume this is what he was referring to.

Initially believed to be a fully developed puzzle game based on the 100 Marios demo shown at GameCube's unveiling, the title is actually supposed to be a true installment in the Mario action/platformer franchise. Rumored to be the true sequel to Nintendo 64 blockbuster Super Mario 64, Nintendo representatives have given little insight into Mario 128 -- other than the fact that it is indeed in development. Described by series creator Shigeru Miyamoto as having unique gameplay mechanics, Nintendo says it's keeping the title under close wraps so that competitors don't have a chance to copy some of the ideas.

It has a page on GameFAQs. Maybe there's something on the boards there, but I'm not willing to look.

GameSpot doesn't have much to say. "Little is known about this title, except that it is in development at Nintendo. With Super Mario 128, series creator Shigeru Miyamoto plans to introduce unique gameplay elements."

I have no clue about the reliability of this site, but it sounds promising.. "His development team are currently aiming to complete Mario's latest highly-anticipated outing before the end of the year apparently, so we should see a Japanese release in time for the festive season, with US and European releases following in its wake."

Finally, there is this mess. I have no idea what to make of that.

Anyway, it sounds like a real project, but there's not a lot to go on, so unless someone can find more information, any discussion is going to be pure speculation. Sounds fun to me!

All I want is a good platformer.

Side note: after I posted this there were 128 threads in the Super Mario series forum. Hallelujah!

Tables are not out of date. When laying things out in a table format, tables are preferred to divs.

Why write something when you can paste something you already wrote?

bsznm: but Kitten Yiffer would make everybody wear animal costumes or something
bsznm: It would be horrible
wootest: then I'd slap him
bsznm: But that's ALL he'd do. Why put him in office in the first place?
wootest: because some fucking dee-mocrat made him my vice. I'd kick him in the nuts first thing I'd do

It's not a valid complaint if you misspell plagiarism.
