Hello, 1st time poster, but have been lurking for a while. Would it be possible to create a simple version of SMW that is a time attack version? I'm thinking something along the lines of one long level with a section of every 'type' of SMW world (water, plain, fortress). I have a feeling that in order to add a timer (from something internal that would just keep track of the timeleft values to a fully graphical timer in the status bar) would take a large ammount of ASM hacking. I have very little experience with that. If anyone would like to help in this effort, it would be greatly appreciated. Or, if you want to bust my bubble telling me this is impossible, go right ahead! Yea, thats what I was thinking with the pipes. I changed a level and half way it switched to another level. Thats what gave me the idea. Also, I remember people doing time things with nes games like you said. I know that I could patch together a time attack level (at least something basic). I just think that it could be really fun and spark some fun competition.

I havent decided what the powerup/life setup will be, what I might do is have it goto two worlds, one with powerups and one w/o. To give those peoplewho wantmore challenge. I think it should only be one life, otherwise it might be hard to keep track of the timer settings. EDIT: Heres a OW I just made for description purposes... It would be more then just some stupid thing, it would be a level that could be beat by many but only mastered by few. It willt take a while to develop, but it you add enough jumps and tricky spots, it could be cool. I know the tile is discolored, I just threw together the SS in about 10min |

I'd make a few levels. I'm too busy for a full hack, but I wouldn't mind making a few levels. If there are custom ExGfx, I'd need them from someone.

Hello, I can correctly add ExGFX to my rom, and I can use them in a level. But when I play the rom on that level, all the ExGFX are gone replaced with the 'nothing' gfx. Am I suppost to be 'locking' the Exgfx so they stay in the level/rom? It looks right when I edit the level. Thanks |

Ok, I played it.heres what I saw: 1. Level design is alright, you sure love the chucks though. 2. Level to level seems to jump around in styles 3. In everylevel I occured slowdown when there were many things on the screen. I know that it is normal, but maybe try to re-work enemy places so that don't happen, it makes some parts almost unplayable. 4. Level animation from MI3 to the next one is screwed up on OW, others seemed fine. 5. Graphical issues with the bush in Castle entry. It was alright, the graphic edits were good. |
