I've already recorded a movie, the level which appears in the demo makes the movements look really out of synch, and then Mario ends up crashing into an enemy. Any help?

Btw, I already know how to access Chelsea's Bonus Menu and I've made use of it.

Ok, but do you know how to change the demo LEVEL? Not just the movements in it.

W00t! I am known! Anyway, yeah, I remember you. Where have you been?

And thanks man.

EDIT:

Aight, since this topic is still up here, I'll ask 2 more questions.

1. How do you edit the text at the end of the game (right after you beat bowser)? (Example: mario rescued the princess, they are now going to take a vacation, ect)

2. How do you import music from another game? I REALLY want to import music from a game such as Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, as some of the songs have a dark mood to them. I plan to use these songs for both regular levels and the overworld areas.

Try out my new hack I just finished (hopefully). If you find any major errors, or whatever write em down. And don't say this game is impossible to beat, I've beaten it, multiple times. Here are some snapshots:

Title Screen, Mario in his boat.

Map Screen

Small Island in the Bermuda Triangle

Jungle World

Desert World

Ghost World

3 worlds? Search carefully, and you might find a nightmare! Questions and comments are great and appreciated, although I'm not giving clues to beating levels. This game is relatively short compared to the original SMW, but it's not the easiest game in existance. XP

MANY THANKS TO Nap FOR HELPING ME WITH THE IPS PATCHING AND BEING THE FIRST PERSON TO TEST MY GAME OUT!

And here's the IPS patch!

Enjoy.

Yeah, some parts look a little plain, I just tried to make this as much of a challenge hack as I could and didn't concentrate very much on graphical quality. I'll probably make a small revision later on, with better looks and such. Right now, the current one is overall a skill-testing thing.

Well, I downloaded the demo and played it a bit...youch...

There is room for MUCH MUCH MUCH improvement in this hack. Where do I begin...

Level of difficulty: Okay, this seems to have been a misconception between the author of certain hacks and the players. I have seen dicussions between the authors and players where the players complain about the extreme level of difficulty, whereas the author contests this and says that the game is very easy and he/she has beaten it several times. You have to keep in mind that YOU have created this hack, so you know every little trick, every little special jump, every little secret location in order to defeat the game. Thus, it will be easier for YOU to beat the game and not the players, because they are unaware of every little trick you have created.

Now, I know you said this was a skill tester, but take for example, the Jungle World. There is a part where you are high up on the vines, and you must jump back down onto a vine. This isn't necessarily a skill, mostly a blind guess to where the vine is. If you're guess is inaccuarate, it costs the player a life. You don't want to have the player blind guess at something and lose a life, maybe try having a different type of penalty, like putting ground underneath that vine and having the player climb back up the vines and trying again.

Okay...enough with the difficulty of the hack...

Title Screen: You can edit the moves of the title screen. Take advantage of it. Having Mario jump around in a cubicle isn't entertaining. Also, the lightning bolt fire goes off the logs of the boat and float in mid-air, you want to watch out for this.

Desert World: Do not use glitched objects/sprites. That is my biggest turn-off about hacks and it makes them seem less professional. It isn't too major here, but do not use the water with the strange surface.

Jungle World: Already mentioned the bush/vine issue. Try not to use 1 block long vine tiles. They are to hard to grab onto, players will likely miss these. Also, a palette error in the BG, look at the top of those green hills, you'll see. Change the BG palette.

Ghost World: Bad blue palette on the ceiling ghosts. Go into the change palettes and use a different sprite palette. Also, try not to have the player go too close to the ceiling in the ghost ceiling levels. The player will inevitably be hit.

I hope I don't seem to be rambling or discouraging you. I'm just trying to offer as much advice as I can, so that you can make this the best hack possible. Good luck!

Yeah, that thing in jungle worlds is a bit of a leap of faith thing, I might try to change it around. I'm not too good at graffics though, maybe I could use a lil help.

And about the difficulty, some things DO require a lot of exploring, some of the people who tried out my hack managed to find certain things after being a lil persistant, but I might try to ease down the mayhem on this a little.

And about the ceiling ghosts, no, you can avoid em. I have, others have, it's all about being quick and not letting them gather up too much. The level after that is all about good good timing, and although this might sound a lil grim, a lil bit of luck.

And on the desert world, I haven't really noticed any glitches on objects or sprites. And that yellowish water is supposed to be something like quicksand, but I dunno how to get the Bros 3 quicksand into this game, so I just used yellow water instead.

But thanks for the tips, I'll take them into good consideration.

Ok, thanks. Oh, and I'm just wondering what you people might think about the secret world I've included. It shouldn't be too hard to find, but since this is sorta like the big secret in the game, I decided to make it a little horrifying, even to those who use the star + floating Mario cheats.

I've finished the first two pipes, stuck on the big boo + six levels of empty boxes level. As far as I can see, the glitchy graphics and overall sparse level design make for a fairly uninteresting hack, although I did enjoy the concrete boo + spiky tunnel puzzle.

Also, your post layout is almost totally illegible; I need to select your posts to see what you're saying.

I never said you need a star + floating Mario cheat to beat it, I said I did something that makes it tricky even for bigtime cheaters. If you wanna try out that secret area, I'll tell you people where it is. On the small island, go to the far left, there's a fish guarding a hidden pipe. Stand on that area in the water when the fish is away from the edge of the screen, and press down. You'll enter a hidden pipe. The first area has no enemies, isn't glitchy, it just requires a lot of exploration and some thinking. And remember, that P-Switch you get is there for a reason. Figure it out. Since it's the first area in that world, I don't think it's be nearly as frustrating dying there as it would be anywhere else. The next room is pretty much a guessing game, find the right paths to the exit through pipes, or you die. (There's a minor bug I noticed I forgot to fix, I put the entrance to the death room at the wrong part, so instead of Mario falling out of a pipe into his death, he appears in a wall which kills him. ) Sorta like russian roulette, but dying here isn't as bad either, since if you know what to do in the first room, that first room will be pretty easy. The next room is also a puzzle, but it has something similar to a leap of faith in it. And there's a light switch at the beginning, just incase none of you noticed.

Ahh... I once did a very successful recording for the title screen, but that seemed to have been more of a fluke. I really can't get this to work. I always get "This save state has no recording data in it" or something like that. Can someone please tell me the exact steps they do to make a successful recording? Like, first load state, then install ASM, ect ect. I need to know WHEN to do each thing in the whole process. Thanks.

To be honest, I kinda like the pallete in Lemmy's room. It would seem rather appropriate after a dark gloomy dungeon-like level with dark colors and a theme of death in it.

I was just plannin on insertin a custom block into my hack, and I'm usin BLKTOOL right now. I already chose what block number it'll be (101.. the teleport block), but for the Map16 part, when I try to ender the map number in, it doesn't let me type in any letters. On Lunar Magic, for the map16 tileset specific tile 1D4 (looks like a backwards orange question-mark block), and if 1D4 is actually the number for that block, BLKTOOL won't let me enter it as the map16 number. It won't let me type up any letters. Any help? =/

Ook, I've edited the first world so far. Notice how I deleted the old paths that Nintendo had made, and I created my own ones with layer 2 editin.

But say, whenever I pass a fuckin level, my paths won't show (although they still work and Mario travels in the direction I want), and instead a useless white path from Nintendo shows up!

Wtf is wrong? Why does Nintendo's damn white paths show (when they don't work anymore) while my new paths DON'T show yet they still work? Somebody help me... =(((

Step by step instructions would be my best preference, but any help at all is appreciated. =)

NOTE: These are the exact same levels and order as they were originally, I haven't changed any level data shit yet. So what you see is all of Yoshi's Island, 1 - 4 and the castle, although I've also included the switch palace there too.

I used to draw my own levels for SMW back when I was about 6 - 8 or so, but I have no memory of what any of those levels were like, and the concepts most likely were rather poor or too farfetch'd. But, I've had dreams where I was playin SMW, and I'd stumble upon a new world or level, or play levels that I've never seen before, and if I'm lucky, I might remember the concept/style of that whole level and actually decide to make it in Lunar Magic. I've had a few of my dreams come to reality, although not 100% of what they were in the dreams (the dream ones were amazin, I wish I could actually make ones like thoses, but things like vertical scroll + layer 2 smash don't work together right =/).

Ook, I read the overworld guide thing, and I pretty much get everythin except this damn mistake. I can get my own custom made paths and everythin to work, except Nintendo's damn white paths (the original ones that came with SMW) still keep showin up. How do I get rid of Nintendo's own events? My paths work fine, I just don't want some ugly thing showin up elsewhere that makes the OW look like shit. I delete the original paths on lunar magic, and get rid of every lil damn trace I can find, whether its invisible or white, or whatever it may be, and it they still keep poppin up!! Please help, I got a headache right now, and I can't stand havin to look through the tutorial again.

P.S. - This is one of my first attempts at OW hackin; I've made some before, but they weren't really worked on much.

Uh, this might seem like a somewhat stupid question, but how do you select the event to be deleted once it's highlighted (pressin pageup/down)?

(Notice I already managed to highlight event one.. look on Yoshi's Island)

I get the events highlighted now in a kinda red-ish glow, but whenever I click on it, nothin happens, it's like I click a blank window space or somethin. And if I press delete, it says "No event tiles selected to delete". After highlightin (pressin page up/down) my desired event to delete, how do I actually select it to be deleted? Sorry for bein so newbie-ish, lol. Any help is appreciated, thanks.
