I'm pretty sure these very boards use something like that for the level and experience numbers on the left (In the default layout). To that end, try PMing Acmlm about it and see what he has to say. |

I personally love Final Fantasy IV. I've played through that more times than any RPG ever, save for Ys I. Of the choices on your poll, though, I'd say Chrono Trigger. It was everything that an SNES RPG should have aspired to be. |

Ever play Street Fighter II (Or any of the variants/descendants thereof)? If so, it's just like that. Down-to-Forward in a quarter circle on the controller (This will be annoying if you're using a keyboard) and the fire button. You need full energy to do it. |

Am I the only one who had no trouble finding the feet? Seriously, I can see where there would be confusion, but it's not like they're exactly the same shade of green. Then again, I've never played Superstar Saga, which may have actually worked to my advantage (Since I saw what I thought should have been feet, without knowing exactly what they looked like). |

Well, my primary goal is finding a job. Other goals include filling in the gaps in my programming knowledge--mostly becoming better with object-oriented stuff--culminating in building a text-based RPG before the summer's out. |

Well, that beats the ones with strings of random words I sometimes get. W00t @ that. ALSO:Randomly, I was cleaning out one of the shelves in my room, and found the map of one of the labyrinths in Deadly Towers that I made some time ago! Suffice to say I threw it out, as I wasn't gonna use it anymore. Christ, I don't believe it's been four years since I pulled off beating that game. Perhaps sadder, I spent the weekend of my junior prom beating it. |

Haha! Actually, it would probably not be that difficult--or for that matter, unsanitary (As all that's in this particular bag is a bunch of papers), to dig it out again. And I could take a pic with my digital camera easily enough.... The problem, I think, would come with getting it into my comp. I'm not sure the cable and/or USB port works. Although I could always take the printer out of the second USB port... Not now, though, brother's sleeping and the like. I actually went to two proms, my girlfriend's junior prom and my senior prom. They were, in fact, rather overhyped. And PM me if you really wanna continue this conversation, though I don't know where it would go from here... |

That's right. Putting it as simply as possible, Mega Man 5, for instance, has code that says basically "When button A is pressed, look at Point F (Random letter for this example) for instructions". It then takes the instructions from Point F. The problem with porting this into the SMW code (Well, besides the more basic problem of button B being the basic jump, and A being the spin jump), is that when Button A is pressed and SMW tries to look at Point F for the instructions on what it's supposed to do, it's likely going to have no idea what the hell to do with what it finds at Point F, and crash the ROM. Hopefully I'm not confusing you even more with this. |

So earlier tonight, as my dad was using the TV with our new game systems hooked up to it, and my brother was on the computer, I decided to head to our spare room for some NES action. The game I chose to play was Dragon Warrior. So I loaded up my old Level 21 file where I'd beaten the game, and started for the Dragonlord's Castle, Charlock. I make it without much trouble, and even manage to basically remember the way to the Dragonlord. What I failed to remember, however, is that this was during the days when the last boss was actually the hardest enemy in the game. I got a quick lesson in this when I beat hid first form and was greeted with: "The Dragonlord revealed its true form! The Dragonlord attacked before ZAPPER was ready." as he proceeded to knock off a third of my life. Suffice to say that I lost this battle. But good. So, anyone else ever get a shock like this? Where you come back to a game after several years and realize "hey, this wasn't as easy as I thought it'd be!" ? |

Yeah, I'm not exactly sure how I did it, unless it was one of those files wherein I got to the end of the game and just never beat it (I'm rather notorious for this, actually, although I HAVE actually beaten DW 1). I honestly don't know. Oh well.

Here's a delightfully random question....is there a C++ equivilent to that command? Because that would be pretty neat if so.

I would guess the biggest argument against this would be server load...every 10 (Or even every 30) seconds for a new call for data would add up fast, I think.

It would be possible, though probably not the easiest thing in the world. More than likely, you'd have to find the pointer to the music of the wild rayquaza battle, and change it to that of the Archie/Maxie battle. And this assumes that the data is uncompressed and easy to find. Suffice to say that if you need me to clarify, you likely lack the skill needed to do such a thing. |

Yeah, StarCraft was a popular game and all, but it's basically the Scorpion of 2004 (If you don't remember the original Character Battle, its Final Eight consisted of 7 staple characters...and Scorpion) as far as I'm concerned. And going by one very simple criterion--how many times I played through the game--LttP would get my vote in this instance. |

There was one room in Quick Man's stage I tended to have trouble with, and I think it's the one Rydain described (Where you have to jump to the left over/onto a platform). The rest wasn't too bad, with practice. In any event, I never had much trouble with Darkfalz, though that was because I was up 4-5 levels higher than my cousin, who found it very difficult. Anyone ever have the opposite happen? Where you come back to something after a long layoff and say "Why did I ever find this so hard?" |

I personally like the fact that it looks like Yarx is protecting the fair Danicess from the evil SomerZ. Nice job, as always. |

Here's the funny thing: I was here in 2001, and I know roughly nothing about Femine. If I had to guess why, I suppose it's because I was never "c00l" enough to ascend beyond Normal User status (If an apparently well-respected normal user). In any event, bedtime for Emptyeye. G'night everyone. (edited by Emptyeye on 06-02-04 12:29 AM) |

Quick question: Anyone know how to get rid of that annoying sound whenever you click a link in IE? You know, the "click"-like sound? Any help would be great. |

Not only was that easy, but it made sense too! Note my sarcasm. Anyways, thanks, this thread's purpose is served. |
